HID Lights. Yes or No?

I picked my HID kits up from the Post Office today! Everything looks great... connectors, ballasts, wires, and bulbs all seem to be quality components. The down side is that there are no instructions. It may all make sense when I go to install them, but there are two wires coming out of the bulbs that go through a rubber grommet and then there is another pair of wires going through that same grommet with OEM-style connectors on each end (male and female), but it doesn't seem like you'd use that... hmmm. I've already taken some "before" shots of the light output and will take pics all the way through with hopes of helping others out.

agreed

anything above the OEM 4300K is whack . less lumens.

if you have an 06+, get the xenondepot kit with the OEM philips ballast and bulbs.

else stay stock.

Curious: What is the difference between the slim ballast kit and the Raptor full sized kit? I tried looking all over the DDM site for info, but couldn't find anything. Want to get the 35W for my fogs, as I've read that the 55W will get too hot....
ARK, I saw what you said regarding the 55W being a-ok; has anyone else actually run the 55W's as the fogs and been ok with heat levels? I'd hate to make the wrong decision and damage the fogs! :bash:

Why?

I'm just starting to look at HID conversion kits now, and reading up on them. They've gotten a lot cheaper since the last time I looked at these (several years ago).
 
I just got mine and got scared on install since they wouldn't turn on then i realized the wires in the light socket were backwards
I do have a question
I git 4500 for the fog lights and 5000 for the headlights but both look the same how do you tell the difference?
The balasts were easy since I got the bigger ones for the fog lights
Other than that they are great! I can't believe the difference

I'm installing mine right now and am trying to figure out the polarity... which wires go to which? I have red/black stripe and white/black stripe on the factory bulb connector. My DDM connectors have black and red

EDIT (5 min later): I think that I figured out the polarity with my voltmeter... not really an electrical guy!

The 4500 and 5000 colors are pretty close, but the 5000's should have a touch more blue in them.

I may be mistaken, but the 5000K should look like more of a "clear, true white" whereas the 4500K will be more of a "dirty white" if that makes sense. If not, disregard!

That's a good way to describe it. My 5000k sure looks freekishly white compared to the halogen!!
 
Awesome thread. Ran across it today, and I'm ordering kits from DDM now! I'm gonna just get a kit for my wife's accord as well. I did not think HID kits were this affordable.

That's what I've noticed from pictures and descriptions. Hopefully I will get mine soon so I can put 'em in the fogs and see how they do.

I installed my 5000k low beams (I'll post up some pics later) and had a couple of questions... when I turn them on, there's a bright flash, then they go dim and then start to get brighter... is that normal?

They are definitely different and I'm still getting used to them. Right after I installed them Friday evening, I drove around the neighborhood and wasn't too impressed... I think I was expecting a huge difference. Last night I was out and they seemed much better... do these bulbs "burn in" or "warm up" after the first few uses?
