HID upgrade, which one to go with?

As it stands today, the passenger side is brighter than the driver's side, and they have no idea how or why. It's annoying but I am just grateful that the system works.

With regard to heat issues, I've had HIDs for over three years now and never had an issue with the projectors. At one point, I did put 35w bulbs in the fogs, which only call for 19w bulbs, and that did ultimately pop a fuse and I can see a little warping in the foglight housing. I went to LED fogs and have had no problems.

I haven't figured out the problem yet. Haven't had much time to diagnose what the issue could be. My issue is that i shouldn't have to. It does seem like Gecko had a similar problem with his Rav4 kit. Swapping out parts of the kit doesn't seem to fix the issue and it is frustrating when you have to be worried if your headlights will work when turning them on every time.
 
Xenon depot 2016 hid kit...anyone install one recently?

Is it pure plug and play or there is splicing required? If so...how much splicing?

How long was the install? Any tricky areas?

I've done full retros before from scratch on my other cars...I'm over it and just want a simple solution for my 4runner.
 
I installed the xenondepot x11 Xtreme kit in our '16 SR5P. It was the first HID kit I've ever installed and it turned out great. My kit didn't come with instructions for some reason so I used this site and common sense. No splicing at all. I hid the ballasts under the black plastic covers along the edge of the fenders. I also went with the Philips bulbs which look very OEM and just like our Acura to me. No complaints, love the kit and extra light so far.
 
I just installed my HID kit from Xenon Depot a week ago along with the Phillips LED Fogs. Everything is strictly plug and play. The HID kit will Come with a wiring harness for both lights to run to the battery but you do not need to use these so it makes the install very easy and it took me right at an hour to install everything, which included pulling the light covers out and drilling the one inch hole for the wires and rubber grommet, plugging everything in, and zip tie the wires to clean everything up. Very easy install. You can message me if you have any questions.

Which K temperature did you go with for that OEM look? Thats what I am looking for also

I used the Xenon Depot kit, the philips 4300k are similar in color to the bi-xenons I had on my 5-series.

Install takes about 30 mins if you are comfortable turning a wrench, maybe plan on an hour if this is your first time with a screw driver. no splicing is required, although if you want to mount the positive leads directly to the battery post you will need to remove the o-ring and splice on a larger one.
 
Yeah, i think that was what i had on my first retrofit and they looked great. 5000k + starts to get into the aftermarket HID look depending on the quality of the bulb.

They have 4500k in most sizes so we should be good.
 
Just installed the TRS Morimoto Elite kit. No issues so far. All the install tips on this forum and thread are great. I himmed and hawed about where to place my ballasts. I almost went with this location in the area behind the grill but in front of the radiator. I was tempted because it looked like two existing bolts would line up perfectly with the ballast bracket. However, it appeared to receive much more splash than the locations that [MENTION=103267]Saker[/MENTION] used. I ended up installing them and the relay in exactly the same place as [MENTION=103267]Saker[/MENTION]. Guess I just can't stop copying him! The pics should go in order from zoomed out to zoomed in.

If you choose to use the included relay harness, then you would need to run the positive lead from each harness directly to the positive terminal on the battery (left and right).

Our Xtreme ballasts are low-draw, so you technically don't *need* to use the included relay harness.

I'm a Canadian T4R do I need to get a special kit for daytime lights? How does the CANbus come into play?
