High mileage runners - what's your transmission life?

233,000 miles on my 97' V6, tranny seems fine. fluid and filter changed recently and it was noticeably smoother after.

215 and 228K on my gunners. Smooth as new. In for the long haul with both cars. My maintenance is rather OCD in nature, and the day they both turn 400K+ (with luck) I will be quite happy. Slap in another engine and tranny and go again!

I changed my tranny at around 200k but, it had been abused by previous owner through improper towing.
The interesting part is, I put a tranny in that had 416K on the clock.

I really did question my decision to put in a tranny with such high mileage but I had it, it was free and fluids did not appear burnt.

So far, pleased to say it has performed flawlessly for the last 25 k since install.

Fluid was changed at the time but no flushing or anything like that.

Essentially, tranny's are well designed with no known issues but they will not stand a lot of abuse from overheating or improper towing techniques eg: allowing o/d to engage while towing with anything but the lightest loads.

Assin tranny's were also used in some Jeeps

Hey ya"ll, i just recently have been noticing some hard shifting in my 4runner with 228xxx miles. seems to be struggling shifting but its not very consistent on when it struggles... Any ideas what the problem could be? Also im new to the forum and just bought my 4runner so im kinda a noob. Thanks in advance

365,000 km on my R150F with no issues. Been doing clutchless shifts for the past 80,000 km no worries
