Im looking at buying a gen 1 this weekend with 390,000 miles on it. Is that too high? What is the most miles anyone here has on a gen1? My gen 2 only has 140k miles on it.
I bought it anyway, price was great for the condition, runs pretty good, trans has some sounds, and no carpet, missing some small parts ect. Got it for 1100
Wow for 1100 Id say that thing was a pretty good deal even with the miles for being in NC. It appears to be in decent shape. I agree the miles don't count as much as the condition of the overall body and frame.
I don't care how many miles it has. These little trucks are always worth saving. Especially one that clean. I'd rather get one with a clean body and trashed running gear than vice versa. Great buy IMHO!
Yeah, for $1,100 who cares honestly? You got a 4runner. Only thing around where I live that you can get a $1,100 vehicle is something like Cavalier or Escort that doesn't run.
Good find! Truck looks like its in pretty good condition, how's the interior? Either way congrats on your purchase...welcome to your new addiction:hat:
interior is another story, driver seat is trashed while the passenger seat shows no use, center console is sitting where it goes, no bolts or switches. back seats don't look bad. It has the center spedo with no tac ( odd for 5 speed?). fuel gage shows full when topped off then pegs out empty after 25 miles. E-brake light stays on while over 5mph. every gear but 4th makes a sound like cats in a grinder. clutch master cylinder leaks into floorboard. wipers stay where ever they are when the switch is off. radio stays on till the key is out.
iv yet to find the cup holder ( if it ever had one)
But it drives and starts good. , Havent tried the 4wd
Looks like you've got some work to do. FYI the dlx model did not come with a tac,but the upgraded sr5 package did. As for cup holders, none of these trucks came with em
A guy I bought a snow blower from in the fall had just had the engine fail on him on his mid-80's toyota truck....at 430k. He replaced the engine, and expected he could get another 430k on it.
Of course the first 430k was mainly on CA freeways, and now he was in Truckee. But another 100-200k would be likely more than enough for him.
