I absolutely love my new 08 V8 Sport 4WD with only one exception. There is a very high pitch noise coming from the glove box region. It sounds like a bad fan bearing or even a high pitch electrical noise. It rings in my ears at all times. When the car is on the noise is on. It does not change with any fan settings like air conditioning or defrost. I have to roll down the windows and play music not to hear it. I did some research on the forums and couldn't quite find others with the same issue. Most referred to the fan. It is driving me nuts and I am getting ready to take it in to the dealer but wanted to get some advice first! Thanks!

I experienced the same problem. After numerous trips to the dealership, we found that the noise is from an ECU under the glove compartment. It is a rectangle shaped object which is made out of metal. Once the power is on to your truck, the sound occurs. It is unrelated to your AC/Heat, fan, engine, etc. The dealer replaced my ECU but I experienced the same problem. Finally, a case manager reviewed my problem and deemed it as "normal." After +/- 6 months of frustration, I could not solve the problem.
Try removing the plastic cover under the glove compartment. With your battery running, place your hand on the ECU (far right side closest to door). It heats up in temperature when operating. That is precisely where the noise comes from.
Please let me know if you have any remedies/suggestions. I'd absolutely love to stop listening to it!!!

Please tell me you solved this issue...? My wifes 2020 4runner started doing this today and its unbareable. I disconnected the battery and it was still doing it... WTF?
