Highest gas $ in the nation now is...

...not in Hawaii. It was, but not now.

We in Minnesota now have the privilege of paying $4.39/gal for regular unleaded. We're told it will stay like this until at least the 4th of July when they reopen two refineries, one in Illinois and the other in Indiana, that are closed to convert from winter to summer blend and perform routine maintenance.

I've always been intrigued by the prospect of converting my T4R V6 to natural gas. Too bad we don't have the infrastructure in place yet.

I have my buddies disco this week and boy that thing sucks gas..

I avg about 10 in the city and about 13 on freeway and that's on 91..

the new land cruiser are running 5.7 and it gets 4 more mpg on the free way and 3 in the city.. why can't the 4.6 rover v8's do that..

but on gas price.. I paid about $4.07 for 91 and it was like llike $55 for half an tank..

Down in socal: LA/OC area is averaged about 4.08 for 76/.shell/chevron this past weekend..

I got fuel for 3.39 near Kingman, AZ and am now paying 4.07 back home.

I just drove up the Pacific Coast Highway on a road trip from San Diego to San Francisco. Luckily I filled up before ($3.90) because gas was $5.17 in Big Sur for regular!!! No gas stations around for miles, so people were paying for it... made me thankful to get back home to PA prices of $3.50ish. Should have taken a picture...

Yeah, places like that like to charge an arm and a leg. For instance, in Yosemite National Park, the only gas station inside the park charges at least $1.00 more for regular gas.

$4.39 confirmed in northern Minnesota as well. Can't wait to see what they will be charging on the lakes for boat gas. Over $5/gal. I'm guessing.:fish2:

Here in Portland, Gas went from about $3.50/gal to $3.99/gal for Reg. Hopefully that won't last too long.

Do you have any good info to share about CNG conversions? I believe you can get a compressor/filler for your home that hooks up to you Natural Gas line, and fill from home, which would help with the infrastructure issue.

To be honest, I haven't even begun to look into it, but it has always been rather intriguing to me. Time for me to start surfing the net for more info. Might start here: Natural Gas Vehicles | Pickens Plan

Thing is, I still have another year on extended warranty, so even if I wanted to do anything about it now, I couldn't. Besides, natural gas only saves about 15% in cost/gal and I don't drive that much. But it might be worthwhile for others who drive a bunch. And... it might help us reduce our dependence on foreign oil while cutting down on harmful emissions.

Worth thinking about.
