Highest Mileage 4th Gen?

Yea, I hear ya,it's my 4th 2UZ. Did the air injection pump bybass from slyfox, but, I think it's like having kids.....after the 3rd timing service on "new-2-you" rigs seeing perfect belts with all teeth, no damage or cracks, you're like....meh.

Assuming the other services were done at 90 and 180k miles, I'd do another timing belt job if I were you. That's not something you wanna let go longer than you should.

Just bought mine, 2005 V6 4.0 Sport with 140k.
As my first real car, the mileage scared me a little, but everything checked out except for minor quirks that are bound to happen with a 14 year old vehicle.

Mine just hit 804k this week,

I'm assuming that when you say 804"K" you mean that's miles and not kilometers, if kilometers that's around 500,000 miles still a great achievement, I have seen another posted that has that many miles on it?

If that's miles, which it seems it is that's the higest mileage T4R I have seen or heard of, how's everything doing on it, running well, is it a V8 or V6, 2WD or 4WD, year model, what kind of work has been done to it to keep it going that far other than regular maintence, is the drive train all original?

Give all the details you can!!!

Sorry should have added details. 2008 V6 4WD. Had a tune up done, replaced all bearing for AC, alternator, serpentine belt etc. recent break job and tire rotation. Transmission and engine are original. 2nd owener. Tranny oil has been replaced at 85k. Haven’t it changed it since. It is also miles not km, I haven’t seen any 4runners that operate on km here in Denver, Co.

That awesome, I just wanted to clarify that it was indeed miles, you have what I believe is the highest mileage T4R I have heard of and or at least posted on these forums!!

That being said if you make it to 1,000,000 be sure to give Toyota a call to see if they are interested in obtaining it, they bought back a Tundra that made it to 1,000,000 and or gave the owner a brand new Tundra for it so they could disassemble it for research, which they have done, they will be at some point reassembling it and put it on display in their museum in Texas.

The car does have some rusty spots but nothing on the frame just the hood and trunk that I know of so far. Also, the car has been picking up/accelerating pretty slow. Not sure why? I did a tune up and that still didn't fix it. overall, it does drive pretty well.

Exactly what all was done regarding the "tune up"?

My mechanic replaced wires, plugs and cleaned air filter, mass air flow and throttle Position Sensor. It drives well but lately I have noticed that it doesn't pick up as it usually does, I'm thinking of changing tranny oil even though I haven't done in a couple of years but I'm afraid it'll ruin the transmission according to the mechanic.

Well he covered most all the bases..but if he charged you for spark plugs wires and labor to install them he needs to give you a refund since your T4R has no spark plugs wires nor a distributor in which the wires would plug into, each spark plug has it own coil pack and as such doesn't require spark plugs wires/distributor.

That being said you might want to get him to check the fuel system, e.g. fuel pressure, fuel trims, and any fuel filter if one has been installed, also I would suggest testing the fuel injectors, it's possible that some of your injectors may need replacing, at the very least a fuel injector cleaner additive to clean them and ensure they are working the way they should and not somewhat clogged.

Sorry, that was a typo! I meant to say he changed the spark plugs along with the coils. I will have him take a look and see if he can get the fuel injectors clean and test them out. I haven't thought about changing the fuel filter. I will bring that up to him. Thanks for the input!

Congratulations on the 804 K I would change the filter in the transmission 'cause maybe that is what is starting to clog up and slow you down and I would go ahead and just exchange all the fluid after you change that because you can do a fairly simple easy fluid exchange.

Dude. What a proud achievement.

What were you doing every day to get it to so many miles? Its only a 2008 which is crazy haha.
