How much fun was that job?
Like many things, it was a great time, but I wouldn’t want to do it everyday.
Had to rip off the timing chain cover twice because I messed up the timing the first time.

Those of you with these super high mileage 4.7L V8s, what have you done (or not done) about the cracked manifolds? Has anyone passed 150k, 200k, 250k, etc, without the ticking sounds?

Not sure if climate has anything to do with the manifolds cracking but mine has been in the southeast USA it's entire life, mainly Florida, and then Georgia for a short time and now South Carolina.
This is the exact configuration that I'm looking for after I get rid of my Touareg. Love seeing all of these higher mileage 4runners. Definitely makes me feel more comfortable about picking up a 150k mile + 4th gen as a daily driver!

I have changed front calipers and valve cover gasket (oil on spark plugs)
Had to remove catalytic converter cover as it was rattling
Also about every single interior bulb has died and needed to be replaced
Replaced passenger front headlight assembly as it was holding moisture
Previous owner had to replace 2 door lock actuators
