I do all the repairs, servicing and maintenance on my T4. I've lost trust with any mechanic here in this city. Youtube has made me my own mechanic.
Engine and transmission have never had problems. Major (expensive) repairs done on it, besides regular maintenance and replacing basic parts, are the water pump/timing belt 3 times, exhuast manifold/catalytic converters, ac compressor, master brake cylinder/abs. Stearing pump system is the only thing untouched in the engine compartment. Timely oil changes and OEM parts are top prioity.
I floor it every time I drive it and gone 4wheeling and it doesn't flinch. Last year, without hesitating, was the first time I've towed an RV with it. From NM to the beach in S Carolina with no problems. Gona go somewhere far again this year pulling my Jayco 20 footer. It has paid for itself many times even with all those parts replaced throughout it's life. Not sure if I will keep it if and when the engine or trany break.
If you want to fix your own car, or anything, youtube it first. That's my advice.
