Yes i have these boots. Couple days to break in wore them to work for 2 days 12 hours a day. All I do is walk all day. Not the best ankle support good enough for me tho. They are comfy right out of the box. These are my 4th pair of vasque boots.. They are a little hot tho..

OP I got these 6 months ago http://m.rei.com/product/856453/lowa-zephyr-mid-hiking-boots-mens. They were very comfortable out of the box. My feet get hot, and I got these for the summer or for the desert, so I opted for the non-goretex version. The ones I got breathe very well and my feet stay as cool and dry as I imagine is possible. The goretex version (the GTX model) will offer water resistance but will not breathe as well.

These are not on sale, but if your needs are like mine, they are worth waiting for. I had to get a size larger BTW. If you do opt for the Lowas be sure to try them on first.

REI has been known to donate to organizations like SUWA and Sierra Club in the past, and they tend to side with activists like Peter Metcalf of Black Diamond and any time they starts making noise about closing access to backcountry areas. On the other hand, the last time I checked their name was conspicuously absent from the list of companies supporting the terrible Red Rock Wilderness Act.

My feeling is that I am not opposed to environmental activism in general, because I like green trees and blue water and white snow too. I'm good with companies supporting environmental awareness, even if it supports their bottom line in the process. As long as REI isn't specifically targeting motorized access and donates to more moderate environmental advocacy groups, I'm good. If they start sending donations to extremists like SUWA again, I'll probably change my mind.

I alternate between Danners and Vasques. They're both very good brands IMO.

Thanks, they are mostly advertising military/hunting style boots, didn't see any hiking boots.

Buy some Lowa Zephyrs. Then you will never need to worry about what you need to buy ever again.

I had some Danner Quarry's that had alot of ankle support but they were so heavy.. I had a friend who likes Lowa but they dont last long for him but the man is rough on boots fer sure... I dont like alot of support unless Im packing on large rocks or crazy unstable terrain. I usually tie my boots in the tennis shoe position then retie if needed.
