Hill Assist - HAC

While you're stopped at the red light, you could move your left foot to the brake and right foot over the accelerator. When the light turns green, you begin accelerating before taking your left foot off the brake pedal.

Well ya, I know I could do that. But then what is the point of the whole HAC system if I'm doing all the work?

The whole point of the system I thought was to stop it from rolling backwards for a second to allow you do move your foot from the brake to gas.

It just doesn't do that at all, all it does is beep and make a bunch of noise when I step on the gas to move forward.

I tried it in my parents 06 and it does the same thing in theirs. So there isn't a problem with my 04.

HAC

I've been reading this thread and trying to understand what HAC really does. Maybe HAC controls purpose is not to keep you from slipping too far back on a grade, but rather to limit the application of torque to the wheels so you do not inadvertently spin them when jumping on the throttle in low range and causing your rig to get itself in a precarious position. Also, maybe it's application is more effective when low range is engaged, much like HDC.

Now that I can agree. "Prevent excessive wheel spin to keep vehicle from losing control on uphill take off."

Man - I was hoping HAC was hill brake instead.

Anyway to make HAC into hill brake??
