HIR (Not HID) Headlights

I'm so f'n lazy. I installed 1 HIR bulb into my 4R last month, but haven't dragged my ass out to take some comp pics yet.
BTW: I bought the 65w bulbs, Toshiba HIR, from the ebay seller. Great service, and the light is waaaay brigher than 55w OEM bulb. I'll have to compare the 65w silverstar bulb that I have lying around to the HIR 65w too.
Summary: if you want WHITER light and shorter life, buy Silverstars. If you want BRIGHTER light with a (reported) longer life span, buy the HIR.
Although HIR are twice the price of SS, I'm not disappointed at all. I'd love to go HID, but I don't have 300-400 beans to blow on headlights right now. I just want to see betta.

Update: it's been 11 months since I installed my first HIR bulb and I have yet to burn it out (knock-knock). I still think they are a great value: very bright for a relatively low cost.
HIR bulbs (the old John Deere trick)
I used HIR bulbs for low beams in my 99 Land Cruiser for the last four years. Great bulbs: about 33% more candlepower for the same wattage, IIRC.
I did have to grind down a tab on the bulb for it to fit, but that was minor trouble.
When the upgrade first became available about five years ago, HIR bulbs were fairly expensive -- $40 or so each. But John Deere had them available for one of their small tractors, and those bulbs were only $24 from the local JD dealership.

The HIR bulbs are slightly whiter than OEM bulbs, but not as white as silverstar bulbs. They are noticeably brighter than both.
In summary,
If you are looking for WHITE bulbs, for low cost, then buy the cheap 発音記号表 xenon bulbs on ebay.
If you are looking for BRIGHT bulbs for low cost, then buy the HIRs.
If you have the money, buy HID and you'll have the brightest, whitest bulbs on the market.

Simple Swap
The HIR bulbs may have a slightly differently shaped plastic flange than OEM, so a file or Dremel tool may be needed to reshape to fit. Otherwise it's a simple swap.
The HIR bullbs are longer than the OEM, but the primary light source is about half-way along the bulb length, so the focal length of the headlamp assembly remains correct.
I don't care much about white, although I don't like those blue lights very much. The HIRs are very close to the same color temperature as OEM, just 33% more candlepower for the same wattage thanks to the infrared reflective coating.
