Just curious...

I have my 2014 SR5...and have loved it since the day i brought it home. The woman to whom i am related by marriage, after hating it for all of 15 minutes, drove it once and proclaimed to love it too. Even trying to stake a claim to it "i thought it was OURS..." within the first year. Yeah, sho-u-right...knowing that the little convertible she purchased a few years back was NEVER considered OURS...but i digress. I bought my '14 because it was manly, and aggressive, and, well, a truck and not a xrossover. you want one, buy your own (i thought, would never say of course).

Now, with a major promotion under her belt, and a nice raise to go with it, she wants to buy one for her self. I'm thinking a nice Limited with the full-time 4WD, a little bling, heated seats, etc ('13-'16 model years), or an SR5 Premium as a plan B. She loves the heated seats, what can i say.

How many of the group have had your spouse either commandeer, or go right out and want/purchase another 4rnnr for themselves after driving yours?

my wife loves my 4runner and drives it whenever she can.... but she is keeping her IS350 and thats that!.... plus our vehicles are paid off

I bought my first 4Runner in 2014, a Limited. My wife also love the truck and it fit well into our lifestyle and New England weather. This year we pulled the trigger on a 2017 TRDP for me and she's fulltime in the Limited now. We're both very happy with the decision.

Well, your only mention of cost seemed like "no prob". I see far more wimmen in 5th gens than men ... at least 7 in 10. My wife is pretty short, prefers her Accord Coupe, but never hesitates to take my 4R if she needs room.

My only recommendation would be to make sure she picks it out. Is she OK with "selectable" 4WD? Mine is clueless.

My wife and I both have 4Runners. She likes the 4th gen. body style and drives the 07. I drive the 11.

I was in the opposite situation. We both drove small cars and were adding a little one to the family, so we needed a better family vehicle. We shopped around for a Highlander (that's what she liked because of a co-worker), but...

I've always liked LC's, but knew that was way out of our price. In steps the 4R. I really like the more aggressive styling and ruggedness of the 4R. My wife, who is a horseback rider, was no stranger to driving trucks, so I was confident she wouldn't mind the ride difference. At first she was hesitant, but when we got to the dealer, she was in love. We bought her a '15 LE. A year later, I'm having 4R envy, and conveniently timed car trouble, so I scooped up a low mileage 4th Gen. We both love our trucks, but I still have a little 5th gen envy...so I know the feeling.

2014 his and hers (TE and SR5) for us. I just took over the TE because she doesn't like the 4wd shift lever. I have since installed lift and front bumper on the TE. In hindsight, I wish we would have purchased a Limited for her.

The 'Admiral' wasn't too happy when I bought 'OUR' T4R. She drives very little (probably < 500 mi. year), I always wanted a T4R, so I bought a '15 LE to go with 'MY' Equator (Frontier Pro4X with Suzuki nameplates). I drove T4R regularly for couple months, was getting to really like it, when she finally decided to drive 'OUR' T4R that 'I' had spent 40k on. In about a month, and ever since, she now refers to it as 'HER' Toyota. I drove it about a month ago.

So, I'm about ready to trade my 8 year old Equator and am torn between Tundra, Titan, and F-150 - leaning toward '17 Titan SL. I still get to drive T4R 'whenever' I want!! Oh, and the Admiral will be surprised if she finds out new truck is 10k more than her LE.

Haha. We started with a 15 limited for her. She loves it!!!!!

I ended up getting a 17 TRD Off-road Premium to replace my almost 10 year old Wrangler.

Best choice for me [emoji41] ever. I blame her for our 4runner addiction. Lol

she is now. right after i bought it, i let her drive it to work knowing that a snow storm was coming, and the timing of her commute home was going to be a challenge. she called, i let her know how to turn it activate it, and she took her time motoring home, around accidents, around sliding idiots in sports cars, thru the 6-8 inches of snow already on the ground and still falling. She was fully impressed at the amount of control these things have. Not to mention her enjoyment of the ride over our terribly maintained Wash DC area roads.

with that in mind, i told her about the Limited being a full time 4WDer that was a little less intimidating. She had driven my previously owned LR Disco w/ full time 4WD, and loved that as well. That is what makes a Limited the Plan A for her.

I'm in the exact same boat. When i was looking to buy mine, i was pretty much set on a Trail Edtion. But, she convinced me that a 3rd was was needed. I found my SR5P and I love it. Now that I've been making modifications, she dosent get to drive it as much as she'd like. A few weeks ago, at the Toyota dealership, she proclaimed that she is offically looking for the blue... Trail Edition.

I actually hope it works out this way. I wouldnt mind ditching the 3rd row.

If I had to do it again, I would either get her a Trail Premium or the new TRD Off-Road Premium. If I can, I may even trade in my Limited for one soon.

I have a 2016 LTD that as of present; the only thing exterior wise that reamins "LTD" are the badges and a the chrome door handles and window trim. Pelfreybilt front end, CBI rear end and sliders, Trail Rocker Panel redo, Gobi Rack. TRD 17" Wheels, Toytec lift, blah, blah, blah... Long of the short: 2017 TRD pro was purchased end of the month for her, Gobi rack put on order, and now the fun begins customizing her rig... lights, bumpers, here we go! :doh:

my wife didn't like 4Runners when we first started looking at them. After we saw my Blizzard White Trail she fell in love. I doubt she will get one for herself but I would love her to have one of her own and I'm sure she would as well.

Does she do a lot of hardcore off roading? If not, she'll never use the crawl control, select terrain or rear locker. Maybe an SR5 premium would suit her well.
