Hitch Cargo Carrier

I just got the Harbor Freight carrier and for some reason the tube that goes into the receiver is super tight, as in I almost couldn't get it in the receiver and when I did i had to use a sledge hammer to knock it out (after having to lower the spare tire). Any suggestions? I have a 2003 V8 with factory hitch. Thanks.

You probably have one of the faulty mini hitches (5K limit) like I had. There were several hitch accessories that would not or barely fit.

I took it to Toyota and they ordered a replacement when the truck was still under warranty. They had never seen this issue before but agreed that there was a problem. If you have a good relationship with a dealer they may get you a free replacement. Alternatively you could upgrade to a proper class IV hitch that allows you to tow 7000 lbs.
