Hitch difference - Cdn vs US?

Hi all,
I'm looking to buy an '07 V8 Limited, and I've just found out that the tow rating in Canada is 5,000 lbs vs the 7,000 for the US model. I found some reference as to this possibly being due to a difference in the stock hitch installed on them, and I'm wondering if anyone can confirm that.

If that's the case, is there a recommended replacement for the stock Cdn hitch that brings it up to par with the US version? I'm not planning on towing 7,000 lbs, but I'll likely occasionally be towing a 4,500lb trailer, and I'd like the added leeway...

Yes, I understand the difference between the V8 & V6 capacities. As I said, I'm looking at buying a V8, and Toyota Canada rates the V8 towing capacity at 5,000 lbs. I'm trying to find out why it's different than the US model.

There is a heavy duty and non-heavy duty hitch available.
Buy the OEM HD or any aftermarket hitch rated for the 7,000lbs.

My Toyota Canada sales brochure for the 2008 4Runner (sorry, I don't have the 07 brochure) lists the towing capacity at 5,000 lb with the standard factory-installed receiver hitch.

This receiver hitch (and its 5,000 lb towing capacity) is listed as standard equipment on the SR5 V6, Limited V6 and Limited V8.

Ok - thanks to both of you! So, looks like if I want the increased capacity, it's just a matter of replacing the hitch. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something different in the design of the truck or something, not that I could see them really doing that just for the Canadian market. Off to go hitch shopping...

That's the HD hitch, Canada may rate things differently than US.

Regular duty mounts to the bumper frame, Heavy Duty has a tubular frame that runs to the truck's frame. Yours has the tube frame.
