Homebrew Carpet Mats

This is a real simple thing to do. I am aware that there are custom products available but this is a very cost effective means of providing an extra layer of protection and if you have carpet remnants lying around won't cost a thing. In any event easily obtained for a few bucks. For the rear seats I layed out the stock mats 10.25" apart and traced them on the backing of the carpet . Then score it with a utility lnife and cut it out with scissors. The cargo area you just trace it out, score and cut. What I like about this is that if they get soiled or bloodied from hunting, you can just throw them out and cut out a new one. Very cost effective. If you don't like the look, I still like to have them available, for specific use when the need arises.

Now I just need the seat covers(which are coming) and a carrier for the hitch and I'm good to go.

I bet you could find some nice matching stuff at a carpet store and still spend very little on these.

Yeah you know I'm going to keep an eye out for some with the rubberized backing. They just had some on clearance at Home Depot or Menards for like $6. Not that I want to be a complete tightwad but it all adds up and I want to pay this off quick, I hate car payments.

i have been doing this for years. i typically just go to a carpet store and ask for a remnant (quite often they will just give them to you). after cutting the carpet, i use a blow torch and run quickly run it along the edge of the freshly cut carpet. this melts the carpet backing just enough to prevent your runner from being constantly covered by little pieces of carpet.
