Homelink Garage Door Opener

Can someone who has done this mod with the sunroof answer this question - when you pull the module out, is there 1 connection to plug in, or 2?

I had an aftermarket sunroof put in, and they put the sunroof button in the same place as the factory switch. But there are 2 plugs and I only see 1 on the module.

Mine only had one connection. I have the factory sunroof though.

Dang, that's what I thought. Any chance you have pictures of your install? I'd be interested in seeing if I can make this work somehow.

Why wouldn't the aftermarket installer also use the same plug? It seems like all that's needed is a power source, which you appear to be getting from the map light connector...

Ok. Delete the codes in the homelink then try this.

Hold down the garage door button and the homelink button u want programmed. Once the light changes from a slow blinking light to a rapid blinking light, release both buttons. Then go to the garage door openner and (this is different for all garage door openners) push the "learn" button ONCE. Within 30 secs, press the same button u programmed 3 times, and it should work.

I tried this method with my X10 wireless transceiver module and it didn't work. Unlike a garage door opener the x10 has one button for off and one for on. Does that mean I have to use up 2 homelink buttons for 1 light? Thanks.

I doubt you have to use 2 homelink buttons for the X10, but I never knew the homelink system could support X10 systems! lol.. I used to have X10 in my home, but I removed it cuz it was too complicated lol.

I found out that it doesn't have to be X-10 to be controlled by a homelink. I was shopping for some tools that Sears and they had this plug in outlet device that could be controlled by homelink. It took few minutes to program and now it turns on my auxiliary indoor garage lights, but it will control just about anything you plug into it by simply pressing the button on your overhead console.

programmed the x10 to work with the homelink buttons. After I wrote the e-mail I thought to myself why would I need to program on and off for the outside lights at home. I only need the on feature lol. When I or my wife is pulling up to the house at night and the outside light if off this will allow us to turn it on. It's doubtful that we'd want to turn it off from the car lol.

So it's programmed and problem solved.

unfortunately my wireless X10 unit doesn't have an all lights on and all lights off button, only my wired one does. I suppose I could put them all on the same number though.

On a 07 Sport no sunroof, is there a switched power source under the map light housing? In my Tacoma Toyota prewired for the overhead console (I did not have) so I used the constant, ground, and switched for my mirror. It looks like I can use constant and ground for the map lights and just run a wire to the fuse box to find a switched if not. I was hoping to avoid pulling the pilar off if possible.

2007 SR5 & Homelink

Just bought my 4Runner 5 days ago (my first) and this forum is giving me lots of ideas.

My question is - does the part number for the Homelink in this thread also fit a 2007? The only option my Runner doesn't have is the Homelink and of course it was the one I REALLY wanted. (I saw a lot of years mentioned but no '07 Runner - hope I didn't miss it)

Yep, mine is an '07 and it works fine. I've tried several different times to reprogram it, but the distance is not that impressive on mine.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I've got an 08 SR5 w/ sunroof. I just wanted to make sure nothing has changed since I didn't see anyone who had an 08 (probably cause the last post was early 08 :biggrin2: ), i.e. still one plug, and installing by simply unplugging old unit and plugging in the new unit?

It works in an 08 SR5 w/sunroof just fine. Takes all of about 2 minutes. It took longer to get the ladder out to reach the learn button on my garage door opener than to remove and replace the console. Had the parts from Conicelli's in a couple of days for $84.17. A big improvement.

anybody know if the camry homelink console and the 4runner homelink console are the same? The camry and 4runner units on ebay look like they are the same one. Can anyone confirm? I'm looking to do this swap in my 07' sport edition
