Hood protector install hiccup

Yesterday, I installed a Toyota OEM Hood Protector. All went well until I had to deal with the Phillips head type pushpins, two broke upon installation and the other two had marred heads that looked like crap. I found some similar pushpins at my local hardware store but they're a bit too loose. Anyone else face this problem?

You have the :canada: version of the hood deflector yes? The one with those push pins you need to attached from the front side of the deflector.

Besides going back to the dealer to see if you can get OEM replacement pieces, I would suggest trying the local auto parts store. My local auto parts store has a larger assortment of those push pins than the hardware stores do.

If you still cannot find a suitable one, try wrapping a little electrical tape around the pegs of the looser ones before popping it in, maybe that might hold it in a bit better.
