Hood scoop LEDs

It seems like a great idea. I'm just not clear how the light actually mounts to the hood.

While I did laugh out loud at the K.I.T.T. reference. In all reality I am kind of in awe that no one has still not done that to their 4runner, as I have seen those Taco guys doing that for a long time.

I thought someone had done it to a 4th gen. [MENTION=5149]riceandpho[/MENTION] might know. I'm too lazy to search right now.

Bonus points if you remember what KITT stands for . .

I recess mounted a RI SR2 10" light bar in the hood scoop on my old 2005 Sport 4Runner. Worked like a champ.

I did the knight rider before, the whole assembly start to have water and it didn't work anymore. so now its nothing.

it's simple... just get some 1" wide aluminum bar and fab up a couple brackets. once for each side.

When you lift up the hood you'll see the hood scoop bolts you can use to bolt the brackets two (I used two on each side for stability and strength of the bracket). then just cut a hole in the backside of the hood scoop and mount the lightbar to the bracket. I painted the aluminum brackets with high temp black grill paint before installing it. the RI light bar had no issues with the heat coming off the engine.

All this is done easiest by totally removing the hood scoop assembly from the hood, then disassmbling it.

There's a guy on TacomaWorld that did it but and I kinda followed that as a guide even though the underside of the hoods are different (hence the need to custom fab some brackets on the 4Runner but not the Tacoma.)

its a little to small. but looks good. wish mined didnt die from water damage, but it was ok of a product. i like the ones i did for my a pillars tho.
