Hood vents

Installed some hood vents to keep the temps down. I also made the hood scoop a vent.

but why...

I live in one of the hottest parts of the country and never find a need for additional cooling. What are you doing that's causing temp issues?

Of course you don't feel a need, but does your engine?

Driving slowly through a trail in low-range, high engine rpm's, I've measured my under hood temps at the top of the engine bay to be 80 degrees over ambient. It could easily be 200 degrees in the engine bay on hot days. Wouldn't louvers help decrease that temp?

Plus why does every mod need to be functional? If anything else, it just looks cool.

It’s just a preventative measure. Heat in south Texas is a killer, when you are wheeling around and waiting for some one to get off a trail.

Couldn't agree more. My temp on my scangauge is always about 200. I've seen it go to 210 in a previous truck. Everyday it's been almost, if not 100 degrees.

And I think it looks sweet! Very nice 4runner! I drive through Conroe every now and then, I'll keep a eye out for your Runner.

Thanks! I will keep an eye out for you too! I am leaving for ft. Carson so I will be gone for a few weeks. When I get back I am pulling the trigger on some Baja fenders, the front icons, headers from urd, and a winch.

I know that the engine bay gets really HOT. On my 99 I actually cut our the "cup" in the hood scoop, I could see that it ran a little cooler but, on the flip side, after that my engine bay got DIRTY lol.
Was no biggie as I kept it pretty clean by no means was it show ready lol but clean enough.

Seriously thinking about it on the 07, due to the fact now I have the Viair compressor in the engine bay and that thing throws off lots of heat itself, dont really want the added heat of the engine to kill this compressor lol.

BTW raygenjay looks great.
