Cant believe how many government sheep are in this forum. If you want to be controlled by government by being told you cant leave your house, what food you will eat, then move to China!!! Flat out, social distancing does NOTHING if you first allow a virus to spread!. NY, CA, IL didn't close down shop when they heard about this in January. They allowed this to spread and then attacked the economy in mid March. The Chicago mayor has been complaining about how many thousands of people are out in parks playing soccer, walking, running and not social distancing and yet hospital admissions are down???

If this wasn't an election year, people over 65 and those we with known health issues like cystic fibrosis for an example we be told they should isolate themselves.

Who is dying from this virus???? Mainly people who would be dead in anywhere from a few months to a few years anyways. Aside from obvious elderly population, people with diabetes and hypertension along with smokers and vapors. I for one do NOT have a high metabolism with a heart disease and diabetes in my family. So I run, lift weights, and eat moderately healthy. The virus is just accelerating the process and thinning the herd. And given that the US has one of the most obese populations in the world, its a big herd.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee to a healthy life. I am in the medical field. Before all this, I have seen teens and young adults contract a virus that attacks their heart. Then a very active healthy person is now on a transplant list.

The saddest part of all this is that no one see the effect this is having on kids. Social isolation is not in anyway good for them. Im have tempted to enroll my kids in a day care center now so they can socialize. Still puzzles on why schools are still closed by day cares center are open. Kids, missing out on milestones such a birthdays, proms, graduations. For what?? My family still gets together. My daughter turned 4, we had a party with just grandparent, aunts uncles and cousins. No one got sick or died after. But we are all healthy. No diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, etc. And 4 people out of 10 adults in my family including myself work in hospitals.

What the government sheep fail to see the big picture. This virus isn't going away. It will still be around in May for Memorial Day, and it will still be around in July for the 4th and it will still be around in Dec for x-mas. Then what?? If you all haven't seen, life is too short to be glued to your couch. Put down the chips and pop and enjoy life being active and health. Not glued to a 4runner forum on your tablet watching Oprah on TV.

(please excuse any grammar errors :thumb3: )

Seriously!! Did you eat paint chips as a kid? Are you against a cure for cancer too?

Your to dumb to reason with. Cant fix stupid....

IF I do get a check, not a chance in help Im helping those lazy people. Priorities in this country have gone to south. People shouldn't be *****ing about not having enough handouts. They should be complaining that they cant go to work.

I really hope you apply that same logic to the airline, cruise, auto, and bank industries then too, because they're getting more than all of us combined.

Maybe those good for nothing freeloaders should have saved more?

Maybe we ALL, the WHOLE WORLD, just got blindsided and are just hoping for a little compassion. Being poor does not make someone a bad person.

You also don't seem to understand prioritising needs. People aren't going to complain as much about not having work when their stomachs are empty and the world is shut down. Every day that passes with no relief effort in the works increases the disparity. Have you ever been poor?

Back to the OP's original question: as this progresses, I've been doing my best to not provide another stepping stone for the virus. By that, I mean trying to stay clean and keeping my distance from folks.

Another thing I'm trying not to do is over-inform myself. Information about the coronavirus is literally everywhere, and one can get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of info. Not just technical information, but political info as well. There are theories that it's a weaponized virus that China launched intentionally, or it got out by accident. There are theories that the US government is behind it as a measure to inflict population control. There are theories that it's just a thing that happened, like countless other diseases. Some people think it's all fake. Others think the numbers are inflated, or under-stated, or whatever (which I don't get, because if you believe that it's a new thing, the numbers will be largely meaningless until it's all over anyway). Others believe it's not new, that it's been around for decades or longer. Some think it's in the air, or in cell phone towers, or bats. And on and on.

I can't even LIST all the stuff I've seen and heard, let alone digest it and come up with the real truth. So to preserve my sanity and not spend too much time thinking about all the theories, I'm going with some general assumptions:

>It's a real disease.
>It is very contagious and easily spread.
>People really are dying from it.
>"Social distancing", or whatever term you prefer, seems to be having a positive effect.
>Those in positions of authority, reporting on this tirelessly day after day, really are trying to do the right thing.
>We all need to win this.

It would really be nice if we could stop singling each other out for verbal attacks based on our differences of opinion, at least as it concerns this disease. Discussions between people of different viewpoints can be fun and beneficial, and they're necessary, I believe. But as I see it, we're already in the middle of what is probably the biggest battle most of us has ever been involved in. It's a common 'enemy' we're fighting, and we all need to have the same outcome regardless of our opinions.

Appreciate you guys and gals.

To much money to be lost on cures. Treat the symptoms and you have a never ending money train.

When Integrity and motive are suspect then all trust is lost and rightly so, too many instances of greed and corruption. Never the less I still believe in the goodness of people that do good for the sake of good and not an hidden agenda. I might be like Billy Mumphrey, "a simple country boy, you might say a cockeyed optimist", (kramer).

Yes, very interesting. This video was also embedded in the sacbee article linked by 2012sr5 above. It’s kind of scary to think that if it doesn’t kill you, your lungs may not ever recover completely.

Whoopsie - I didn't see that... Sorry for re-posting

Covid-19

I’ve been working since the start of the “pandemic” in oil and gas.
People have tested positive for the virus and they would not test any people that were in contact with that person unless they showed symptoms. Kinda defeats the purpose really *♂️ There will be no stopping the virus. It’s not that bad though because on average 200,000 are born a day and 100,000 die. We need a much more deadly virus to bring back the health of the planet.

Maybe starting with your family, and loved ones would be a good start.

Dr. Fauci works for the Gates Foundation?

WHO, CDC, IHME, Gates Foundation, many politicians, "subject matter experts" and "news" people pushing for totalitarian lockdowns that are destroying economy have interesting connections.

And now certain politicians and the "news" are ramping up calls for vote-by-mail.

A half-assed attempt at a shutdown that allows this to linger for an increased amount of time, or tolerate short-term pain with totalitarian lockdown attempting to curb it?

Sure, there are consequences for either choice but Gates is a smart guy. His logic is more along the times of how some of us tech guys think and analyze data and situations.

If all of these SMEs from many diverse areas of "expertise" are in alignment with strategy, is that more paranoia talking for the latter half of your post?

If this is a half assed attempt at an economic shutdown, would hate to see a full assed attempt.

You’ve summed up my thoughts pretty well with this post.
I’d just like to amplify your sentiments with a shout out to all in the essential services that are still working to heal us, feed us, keep us safe, and are keeping the country going: medical, maintenance, repair, food service, retail, fire protection, police protection, military, and all the others. You are appreciated, even though we complain a lot.

Agree, and Amen.

For those of you don't think that social distancing works, here's an example of the effects when you're not socially distancing.

I don't think its a question of "social distancing" working, i mean sacrificing 8 out of ten individuals to a volcano god will work. The question, is it worth it? In the end the answer will be "yes", because it has to be. What ever spin they will put on this plandemic to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy and lets the political overlords pretend they did a good job while enriching themselves more at the expense if their subjects.

Yes if you catch it early and not let it spread for 3 months.

But is it really necessary for a virus with a 98% survival rate???? SARS had much higher death rate and nothing shut down. But it wasn't an election year for the Democrats either. Coincidence?

Cigarettes, alcohol, and junk food are far more deadlier than this virus. Just saying.

Edit: Is it really necessary for everyone for a virus with a 98% survival rate.
