Magnaflow..Magnaflow..Magnaflow..where do I begin.

I work at a place that is 95% mexican/hispanic/latino whatever. OF those 95% 90% can not read write speak or understand english. Spanish is the majortiy language there. Most instructions to our robotic welders, specs, drawings, notes, details are in spanish.

They recently took our 15min break down to 10 minute breaks with a bell that goes off 8mins into our break warning us to get back to our station before the last bell rings.

MY SUPERVISORS do not speak/understand english, they can not do basic math(addition/subtraction etc..) without the use of a calculator.

They do not care about quality only quanity, there is no QC(well a guy comes by every now and then..like once or twice a week and does visual inspections on things we are producing), there is no pressure testing for our mufflers/systems. Only the cats every so often get tested.

The turnover rate there is 10x what i've ever experienced(most people dont make through the first shift at this slave factory), the racism is blatant. When mexico was playing in the world cup they gave the mexican guys an hour lunch to watch the cup..when it was americas turn..nothing.

White people at my work at instantly yelled at/talked down to in a jar jar binx type broken spanglish if they try to talk to each other, or for any other "infraction". However if you're brown skinned and speak spanish you are walking on WATER! Most of the supervisors are all related..cousins etc.. they gang up on you to make you quit..they wont fire you. THey will stick you in a booth and make you weld 1000000000000000000000000000 flanges or hangers or something that requires a lot of out of position repetitive welding untill you crack.

You have to work in silence, no headphones no talking just doing the same repetitive no thought brainless low quality work..unless your speaking spanish then by all means hang the **** out and chit chat. God damn i thought this was america! I have a lot of incidents where I was yelled at and the mexican employee standing next to me doing the same **** was not yelled at. They also like to stand maybe 2 ft away with their arms folded like mexican correction officers and chat in spanish about you. Waiting for you to do ANYTHING other than work so they can enforce their mexican dominance of yo ass! GOD DAMN THATS RUDE. speak my countrys ****in language!

Everyday I feel is worse than the last, and they make it that way on purpose because i call them on their racist **** and now im a target.

I can honestly say guys...STAY AWAY FROM THEIR PRODUCTS, I've been building magnaflow exhaust systems for the last 9months, and ive seen what they do..and what they let slip. If you have an exhaust leak or a blow out..id check that aftermarket system you put on!

Bottom line is folks, these muffler systems are put together by over worked underpaid INCOMPETENT AND I DO MEAN INCOMPETENT immigrants that dont give a **** about quality...neither does the boss. Trust me..me and him have gone toe to toe on this many times before. They recently switched from full welds on muffler internals to just 1" stitch welds on most internal assemblys. Before it was 100% and their rule was "only about 80%" needs to be actually welded the rest can be a gap, a burn through by the robot. Problem is when you say 80% the underpaid overworked employee is thinkin eh..50% MAYBE IF YOUR LUCKY. Now its just maybe 10% of the seams on internals get welds, and of that 10% the people running the robots dont care, so now you have an internal assembly that is just basically tacked together. GRANTED this internal assembly is, then wrapped in steel wool, then packaged in insulation then put inside a SS housing and welded all around(hopefully)

I could go on forever about this company but I just wanted to warn you guys as I know there are a lot of magnaflow customers on here, if you do buy from them..check the welds.

All the steel/tips everything comes from korea, these fancy muffler w/tip systems that you pay a couple hundred bucks for(just the universal not the full systems those are over 1k typicall) the tips are like .50 cents lol!

GAHHHHH and I havent even touched on the EXTREMELY UNSAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT THERE. There's been amputations, and oil spills are just left to sit, vertical saw blades just left saw side up strung out on the floor to trip over. i cant apply for other jobs fast enough!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. It's really becoming the rule more than the exception.

This to me is caused from both sides. The businesses are growing too large and aren't seeing the individuals anymore. If you grew up in a small town and had an issue with a local product, chances are that they would fix the problem. Now there are ZERO faces to each product being sold.

On the other side, there are FAR too many people who try to get something for nothing. This goes far beyond just this type of issue. If people only brought up issues with a product when the ACTUALLY had an issue, businesses would probably be more likely to step up and help out.

I recently had an issue with some climbing gear and wrote them an email on my issues with it. Amazingly they emailed me back telling me that they listened (and agreed) to all of my complaints, addressed the issue by redeveloping the product and then sending me the new product free of charge. I was stunned. I've come to expect businesses to brush anything you may have to say off. Nice feeling when they do listen.
 
Wow, that post on CustomTaco's was eye-opening. I'd never dreamed that they had become that kind of company. I feel quite a bit differently now...especially about the fact that your muffler failures were not so much "flukes" as honest to goodness lack of quality control on a large scale.

Also, I am very disinclined to believe this story from customtacos.com especially considering that Magnaflow is based out of Orange County which is actually the whitest & possibly richest county in CA. [Considering size of OC this was probably too broad a statement]

I highly doubt the management of Magnaflow is racist against white people. This is coming from a white guy who has lived in So-CAL for 10 years and doesn't even like Magnaflow.

Ohhhh, don't go there, Westchester and Fairfield Counties (where i live and work) are almost identical to Orange County, and the Spanish speaking immigrants do not like the white workers, whether mexicans are in charge or the laborers, they use the language barrier to their advantage and nod their heads at you like their listening and then go back to being lazy, i have worked along side many different spanish laborers and after consulting with my father we have come to the conclusion that most of the workers do not like "white people" because they make them work or make the look bad because they do not work. If the Floor bosses are primarily mexican then they will be rather help there buddies out and let out some steam on the white boy. And while i think that that person over-exaggerated a bit because i know OSHA would be all over that if it was fully legit and that he should just quit, its a $10 an hour job, they are not that hard to find, i do believe that some of what he said is true and that racism like that still does exist in the workplace.
 
@JohnsD90 - I'm sure you are a nice guy if for no other reason than you are on this forum and well its all good.

I'm not trying to "go there", whoever wrote that post on customtacos.com clearly has issues. I don't blame COB though since it does support his quest to prove how crappy Magnaflow is. I just think the linked story is pretty ludicrous.

Yes there are a lot of Mexicans in OC. But I don't think that Magnaflow is run and managed by racist Mexicans. The post specifically says the management doesn't like white people. I think that is pretty baseless and I bet if you walked into their headquarters you would find no shortage of white people.

BTW I don't even like magnaflow.

Just to clarify, their factory is NOT in Orange County. That is only the Headquarters.

The factory is near Hemet, CA.

And while I do know that his post was racey, it's not the point. It's the fact that the welds have gone from 100% down to 10%, while the faulty ones still make it to the shelf at the exhaust shop, only to be installed on our 4Runners.

Their quality factor has dropped exponentially and we have only the (factory's) management to blame.

I Just got my Dynomax from Walker installed. sounds good and the runner seems to speed up noticibly better.

although my day has gone down hill since yesterdays attempt at my fuel filter that has me replacing the hard line from the filter up to the motor.

and my exhaust job is not fully dont (due to time) cuase it bumps the frame and clunks. due to my new CBI bumper exhaust port it was a tight fit.

will be doing a mileage check once i get my fuel line fixed as I am heading on a road trip.

I Like the sound. just a bit louder than stock and that is what i wanted. well see MPG's on the road trip if there is a change.

and I have many thoughts and opinons on the imagration think, but will refrain
 
Well guys, #3 crapped out today.

Looking for a new alternative now, I am probably gonna send this one in to Amazon, get a replacement, sell it, and get a real muffler.
 
dam that sucks.

I just installed a Dynomax finally and its ok. I dont care for the sound, but it sure helped my go pedal as I noticed on take off.

about to road trip so I am curious if it will help MPG too.

Alright, I've had enough!

I'm going to their headquarters on Tuesday. If they don't want to settle this, my father and I have agreed that we're filing a lawsuit against Car Sound Exhaust LLC.

Uploading now is a new video of my rattle factory exhaust.

I'm also contacting Consumer Affairs and the local news stations, such as FOX 11, KCAL 9, and CBS 2. BBB has done nothing, Magnaflow has not replied.

My current muffler, which is less than 1 month old, is shown here:

yeah, that would drive my NUTS.
I have a rattle cause I am squeezing my exhuast through a small area and it bumps. will redo this with some Hammer time. but dam it gets old fast.

I have a good buddy who has a family member working for MagnaBlow.

Apparently, the VP of Sales, Larry Norris, denied my claim because I'm a "punk kid." The big guys over at MagnaBlow have all seen this thread. They all know me and my situation. They all know exactly what's up. Yes, they all talk sh!t.

They won't consider my claim because I drive my truck off road. Even though every single item on my truck that was designed for use in a 4Runner has NO PROBLEMS off road, this sh!tastic muffler can't handle it, even if properly installed.

They tried to get me on that it was not installed correctly... even though Derek Acosta confirmed it was installed correctly. For heaven's sake, I used one of their recommended installers!

So, I might as well remind you guys:
Magnaflow does NOT support us. Magnaflow's own VP pretty much makes it clear, if you use your truck off road, don't buy his piece of junk mufflers, he won't pay to fix it! 4Runner owners are nothing but punk kids to Larry Norris, so don't waste your money!
 
I just start wasting a company's time and resources until they give in. I start filing complaints; BBB is a start, professional organizations, accreditation boards, state agencies, and court as a last resort.

I cant think of a time when I didn't compel a company to make me whole. You just have to find the leverage and help them understand they can either make it right, or they can spend their resources chasing after grief you begin creating for them.

Examples: Couple months ago it was some S-heads at a medical office & inappropriate billing. They ended up writing off my bills because they didn't want to deal with me anymore. Last year it was a mega insurance company. I got the State Insurance Commissioner involved and it was resolved quickly. Before that, I filed a complaint with the State Attorney General for some BS billing error that this company refused to correct.

The various companies representatives all brushed me you off, some even out right laughed. I got what I wanted in the end (minus wasting my time).

Look up warranty of merchantability in your state, didnt read the entire post. Hope you find the leverage.

I love how of all the "punk kids" he chose to pick someone who takes more meticulous care of their 4runner than almost anyone other than Glen Yoshida (who has been known to go around mud puddles while wheeling! :bigok: )

He picked someone that has won an award on Cardomain, someone that meticulously turned his 2wd auto into a 4wd manual... Someone who has made friends with hundreds of people on this board and elsewhere... Bad choice Larry wanna be VP... you just lost yourself lots of money.

I have 4 cars... yep 4, Im 32 and I like to mod... and I have the money to do it. I have exhaust plans for my Grand Am, 4runner, and my wifes outlander and now none of them involves Magnaflow. Mr Larry VP you picked the wrong kid to call a "punk" I take it from your months of silence you have nothing to say for yourselves. I dont think you realize how much influence this board has on the sales of parts/mods etc. Just ask Scotty from Addicted Offroad or Doug from Toytec or any other sponsor on here. They take care of the complaints voiced here immediately.

James magnaflow muffler was obviously installed by a recommended installer of yours and your product should be built well enough to deal with offroading. If you spent time to investigate the claim you would realize that the product is defective. Claiming that taking the car offroad voids the warranty is a cop out. The exhaust I have on my 4runner right now has been fine offroad for the last 3-4 years and over 100k. James aka COB does not abuse his vehicle and denying his claim is wrong. Whether or not the "punk" kid remarks were made or not, it doesn't sound like you have a good business reason to deny his claim.

I highly suggest making at least an apology. COB is a respected member of this community and we stand behind him.

I will support your plight COB! I was considering a Magnaflow about 8 months ago. Glad I went with the Flowmaster Original 40 series instead. Although I haven't had much luck with that or the Cherry Bomb Vortex. The Flowmaster broke apart 8 months in. One of the welding holding a baffle in place within the muffler broke, so a rattling noise can be heard. Luckily the shop where i bought and installed it at honored the 1yr warranty on the muffler and replaced it free of charge. Cherry bomb Vortex sucked though. Its walls are made of very thin steel. It succumbed to rust after only 2 years, then it was spewing smoke through its cracks. Is that the life expectancy I should expect out of a muffler?
