one way to test it is to drive in 2WD then engage AWD (while the speed is less than 50 mph). When AWD is engaged, and the 4 green tires are lit, you can feel the steering become heavier but no binding.
alternatively, you can jack up the 4 corners of your truck. start it up, place the tranny in D, then press the AWD button. the 4 wheels will spin at different speeds with the fronts significantly slower than the rears. after a few minutes, your ABS light will light up. not to worry, after you take your truck for a drive, the ABS light will switch off.
