To stay current, keep dumping too much crap in the 'What did you do to your 3rd gen today' thread... cleaned MAF, replaced not really dirty air filter with a new OEM one, and installed new OEM fuel filter. That last item really made a difference, truck feels better than ever and a good candidate for towing my new camper. I feel like an idiot for not changing it sooner. Went out to celebrate. I've taken this thing camping a ton this season.

And installed a snorkel this afternoon, had it sitting around for like 2 years.

Guess we know what this means... 8 months after ordering the parts.

I lost the required separate harness I had ordered for the projector retrofit, sucks because I KNOW I saw it somewhere in the last few weeks and thought "that's a dumb place to keep that." Am waiting on a replacement that I ordered with 1 day shipping from Amazon... will finish and post parts + more pics when done.

I really dig what you have done with your 4runner. I know you are not especially fond of the color, but I think it looks pretty cool. As far as your RCI skids go, did you have any issues with the AOR front bumper and the RCI? I have seen a few other skid manufactures that needed to be modified somewhat to make fit. Maybe this is a conflict with lift, bumper, plus skids. I don't recall now.

Thanks man. RCI skids, no - no issues with it playing nice with the AOR bumper. It does seem basically butt up to my steering rack and something is causing a creaking noise when I get in the while parked on a hill, and creaking when turning at slow speed. I emailed them just a few days ago and they suggested putting some spacers on and testing it out. May as well remove it and determine if it's truly the culprit before moving forward, but I'm pretty certain it is.

Finally took the 4runner out today... first time this season that she's seen rough terrain (drive to work once or twice a week to keep charged). This trail just became passable in the last week and a half, but still feel like I should have been out doing fire roads and stuff camping instead of taking my new truck. Front diff leak has had me a little wary with frequent dripping in my driveway, but I realized it was the drain plug and nothing serious before I left this morning. Next mod- desert tan paint job. Have proper single stage paint and catalysts or whatever, have garage, waiting on good deal for air compressor.

Then rear bumper, savage front skids, and probably call it quits for the modding season. Now that I have a garage, for the first time in my life, I can actually buy myself a bunch of xmas presents and install them the same week

How are you liking the pop up? Did it come with the leafs sprung over the axle, or did you modify it that way? Looks like it has a ton of clearance. I'm starting to look into pop-ups now that my family has grown. Been saving for a while now and should have enough come spring time. That looks just about what we're looking for!

It's a blast... hope to take it out next weekend even if it's below freezing up in the mountains. Campfire and alcohol til bed, then run the built in furnace all night.

Had the spring over axle conversion done at the dealership before I took delivery, then ordered oversized wheel/tire assemblies online. We're entering the prime time to buy a used one though, when everyone has assessed how little they used their pop up over the summer and want to recoup some cash.

Early spring might still be good, and thanks man. The color has kind of grown on me but I'm itching to redo and have an opportunity to paint again. I learned a lot on the first coat hah.

Thinking gloss white or gloss wimbledon white (single stage). There'd be less margin for error going with a gloss but I can't find any khaki flat single stage on the entire interwebz. The people that have the exact color and finish I want always use spray cans :moping:

Forgot to post finished picture of projector retrofit. I adjusted the headlights so that I could see really well, and haven't gotten flashed in a couple hundred miles of night driving, so it's good enough until I find a perfectly flat parking lot leading up to a building that *doesnt* have giant flood lights above.

Nice truck! Always nice to see a well maintained rig. Also, I like the color. White would be cool too, but I like the tan. I'm planning on doing a similar color in plastidip. As much criticism as that stuff gets, it works pretty well when applied properly.

Drank countless Coors Lights and decided to build this today. Ordered everything from eztube.com but still need to buy, cut, carpet, and attach some 1/2" plywood as well as grab on to the factory tie downs. Easy as hell.

I used the metal fittings they offer for everything but the two feet L angles closest to the front of the vehicle (some sort of reinforced plastic for those). I figured all the weight is going to be towards the back with the fridge. Plastic could have been used for a lot more.. this thing is strong. Cost for an extra 4 foot piece and all but two fittings in metal was right around $200 shipped to my door.

Ran second horizontal piece 12" from the rear of the vehicle, where fridge will sit

I measured to fit a little taller than these crappy bins but didn't account for the height of the fittings, I'd prefer it have been 2" lower but I can always trim the vertical pieces if I want. Just depends on how much clearance I have to the ceiling with the lid of the fridge as I do not plan on buying a slide.

The shipping weight was like 12lbs and I honestly think the metal junctions I used equaled the weight of all of aluminum in the project. Could have bought 7 four-foot pieces instead of 8 but I didn't plan my cuts out (or design) at all. Don't be like me. I always wanted a basic platform to stash stuff under and having it light enough to remove with one hand is amazing.

About as long possible, unintentionally, and very lucky (again the fittings add length). I usually have the seats folded down all of spring/summer/fall and my dogs ride cramped in the back seat area, so this should keep them much happier when headed to and from camp. I'll probably make an extension for the front area when the seats are folded down out of PVC for even more storage underneath and dedicated to ~140lbs of dogs

Love the rack setup! Looks simple to build, lightweight and can build it perfectly for your needs. May need to place an order with those guys! Having a fridge, jump bow, sub, and recovery gear/tool bag back there, not much floor space left. I need to do something to get some usable rear cargo space back.

Used 1/2" thick birch plywood to put on top, secured with elevator bolts. I should have put those down after I carpeted but there was some lapse in reason. I put some angle aluminum trim on the back to make it look a little more complete but had to notch it out due to an under the carpet elevator bolt...

The bar on the back is just extremely thin aluminum bar also notched to slip over two self tapping screws. Not tough, but if I park on a hill and things decide they want to slide outwards, it'll catch em.

Also decided to give Torque Pro one last chance on this car, I've tried on like 4 different android devices (this one included) in the last month or two to get transmission temperature to work. Tonight I added a custom PID (01b4 I think it was), and it worked! However I noticed at the same time that my 'Transmission Temperature (Method 2)' was also working, which definitely never did before. Beats me. Deleted the custom PID and method 2 continued to work, so - horray. My truck was made 04/99 so I thought it may never give me trans temp based on readings here.

It peaked at 145* at the end of my drive, but it was showing this (135*) after 30 minutes of interstate driving. I don't have my grill on and it's pretty cool outside, but I definitely thought it'd get higher. I guess cool is better than way too hot, but still not sure if this is in any way ideal being so low.

Phone will live for eternity in my 4runner now, sideways, and propped up in slightly opened ash tray. Shifter doesn't hit it, and I have a very short usb micro cable that goes directly from phone in to cig lighter usb. A straight shot, very clean. One tiny piece of industrial velcro on edge of phone and on the area of dash trim that the phone leans against and it's solid.

Excellent - I didn't know I could connect and see the trans and rad temps without an aftermarket sensor. Thanks!!

Relocated aux battery under platform and installed a new charge controller, with bluetooth. It's nuts. Can hang out at camp and satisfy my nerdiness watching the compressor kick on after someone rummages too long in the fridge, and the panels start generating more than enough voltage to cover the draw, all from my phone. MPPT badassery
