How do I check Jiggle Valve Position?

The previous owner installed and external transmission cooler on my 2000 SR5 about a year ago. I frequently show ATF temps of around 206 after just some mellow wheelin' and I heard that is high for having an external cooler.

I read having the jiggle valve in the wrong position can produce higher temps on the Scanguage, but I have no idea how to check this and don't see anything on here showing how to check.

Can anyone point me to info on checking jiggle valve position?, also I see some some people say it should be in the 12 position and many others say 6 o'clock - which is correct my 2000 SR5? Sorry, another dumb question - does the external cooler need any routine maintenance or fluids?

Any tips appreciated.

your talking about 2 different systems. 206 after off roading isnt bad and really not bad at all if your in 4 high. jiggle valve is on the thermostat for you engine coolant.

Your temps are fine.

No need to drain the antifreeze, remove your radiator hose and then remove the the 3 12mm hex nuts to remove the elbow to see if you jiggle valve is in right...

Even if the valve is in upside down, with up and down hill driving, all the air (if any) will pass through.

You probably have more air in the top of the radiator then you do at the thermostat.

Thanks guys, I've only had the rig about 3 weeks and just learning as I go. This forum has been a great source of information and i really appreciate the helpful responses.
