How do I explain the FJ swap to my mechanic?

Okay so I put my front struts in the coils. I dropped my truck off at the mechanic this morning, got halfway to work and the shop called and told me that I had a hydraulic setup and had purchased the wrong suspension. When I told him that it would fit, he countered that the suspension would fit but I needed the hydraulic shocks which he offered to order. We all know that is incorrect. I told him the old system just needed to come off and the new put on; simple as that. He said no, that if they did I would lose all my brake fluid :doh: So, I tried to explain that xreas is its own separate system, no worries. He argued, and needless to say my truck is not in the shop today because I don't have "brake line plugs" or something.

How in the hell do I explain this to my mechanic, or find one that knows better?

I know I could do it myself, and normally I would. But, I haven't had a day off since August so I just want to get the OME/5100s on.

Find a different shop. Any mechanic that thinks your brake fluid and shocks share the same fluid is not one I would want working on my vehicle.

WOW. Run away from that shop fast. That "mechanic" is obviously unqualified to work on anything.:lmao:

The word 'clueless' comes to mind. Best to find a different shop. Good luck
