this has gotten way too complicated for what it is. surely there is a relay for the high beams, which means there is a hot lead coming from them to trigger the offroad lights. tap into the high beam lead, Voila, youre good to go.
I would suggest you forget the switch for now, and wire so that you must have you high beams turned on in your vehicle for the hella's to come on. it will make all this get wrapped up sooner, AND, once youre done I have a feeling you will understand the 12V system and how it works a little more.
