How does this frame look?

Looking at a 2009 4Runner. Being from the south I have no idea about rust. This looks pretty good in my opinion but want to see what you thought. After seeing all of these frame rot threads I don't want to chance it. This is in northern Virginia. I can't find a V8 so I will have to settle for a V6

You can eat off that frame as clean as it is NoVa isn't that far north to have rust issues like jersey and new york can. very clean underneath except usual surface rust. If you POR15'd the bottom after you got it you shouldn't have any issues ever.

That looks fantastic. Wish mine was half that clean, but then again mine is an '04 with 110k mi on it... and it is from NW IA.
 
Good to hear. I was surprised at how little there was. It has ~70k miles. I'll drive it back here and not have to worry about it.
 
It looks great. Even if it was touched up at the welds it doesnt look bad at all. Mine is way worse...

You should see the underside of my 2006 California Runner. It still looks show room fresh! I guess I've found one positive to living in the land of fruits and nuts!
 
I sort of get the feeling that the OP knows how good that one looks and posted it to throw it in our faces while under the guise of ignorance. :)

I'd like to kick you in the fruit and nuts. I'd give anything to have a pristine frame.










BTW: just kidding. I'm sure I have my frame "restored" but will cost big money I'm sure. URghhhhh
 
Actually, the more I look at the pictures the more I think that this frame has been redone with an aftermarket product of some kind. Somebody did a really good job with it.

Don't think so. Just some spray can touch up on the welds. The frame still has the factory writing on it in some areas.

My 2006 looks even better as we have no salt being used on our roads in Oregon...yet. They are starting to use some liquid deicer which is now starting to cause some nuts and unpainted parts underneath to show mild corrosion. I don't like it!

You can tell that it has been touched up with something. But it still looks better than most.

yup, in the last pick you can see the scaly corrosion that is covered up by the paint or what ever was used. it is the same scaly corrosion in side the the link mount that hasn't been coated.
 
I see a bunch of over spray, carelessly painted over rust, and rust inside the frame that can't be easily touched up. :shrug:

Probably still a lot better than average for the age where they use salt on the roads. Having to replace windshields annually is a pain, but much better than having your vehicle rot. Gravel > salt
 
RUN RUN RUN.....

Just kidding.....but you have to wonder who would go through the hassle to paint some surface rust if there wasn't something else they are hiding...

verify history before buying...
