Yeah, There are two first-gen 4Runner owners on South America trip right now. Amazing!

Total of 1015 miles from San Diego to Mount Shasta, to San Leandro, CA, and back to SD.

Ive driven mine a little over 750 miles in one day between Camp Lejeune, NC up to northern Connecticut where I live a few times. It drives like a champ and doesnt seem to care about being 4K RPM for several miles at a time! I sure cared though. I watched the temp gauge and other gauges like a paranoid parent the entire time waiting for my baby to cry out in pain. Temp gauge stayed rock steady and never gave any indications what-so-ever that it was unhappy!

I always insist that we take my truck because It's never left me on the side of the road. Up until last year, I drove my 97 4Runner everywhere when we would take our family trips. Every year for the last 14 years drive from CT to Chatham,MA (Cape) 367 miles round trip and also to Ogunquit, ME. 352 miles round trip (numerous times). And truck never let me down.
Now have past it down to my daughter and bought myself a 11 SR5 in February 2012 and hopefully this one will be just as dependable as the 97.

For the last 2 years my '87 (w/315,000 miles) has made multiple trips from Charleston, SC to both Parkersburg, WV (1100 miles round) and West Chester, PA (1300 miles round) to visit family. But, I just picked up a '99 4Runner for the wife (and trips), so the '87 is just a DD to work and back (40 miles round) for now...

Ive taken mine cross counrty (almost) back and forth. Kelowna BC to Toronto ON. almost 5000k each way... Towed my car one way and a Uhaul the other... needless to say, I need new rotors after that...

Longest trip I've taken it for, is from Vegas to Big Bear, Big Bear to Huntington Beach, and back to Vegas. Total of a 600 mile trip and she did great!

1760 miles from Tucson to Murfreesboro in 3 days last January.

That's my '87 with >270,000 miles on the odo, pulling a small trailer with two motorcycles, two spare tires (one each for T4R and trailer), and with my dogs as my only significant cargo.
