How is headroom with sunroof?

Ah got it...just can't see how people @ 6'2" and up are fitting fine unless they have shaved heads or something. Or are leaning the seat way back which for me causes reach issues.

Actually, I have my seat set so that with shoulders back against the seat, arm not completely straight out, I can comfortably rest my wrist on top of the steering wheel! Usually hair is not included in height measurements lol.
 
I'm 6'4" and I found the sunroof to be intolerable. It was just close enough that my hair kept brushing against it, which got pretty annoying during even a 10 minute test drive. Sure I could have lowered the seat to the floor, or leaned it way back, but I'm not about to compromise a comfortable driving position just to have a sunroof.

Needless to say, that's why I ended up with a regular Trail. Of course it's also why I'm having so much headache with my heated seat issues. If only Toyota offered options separately, instead of an all-or-none approach...
 
i too was concerned with the sunroof at strong 6'2" - I don't like my seat on the floor - I'm glad mine does NOT have a sunroof or I'f had to sit in an alternate position
 
Im 6'5" and fit fine with a sunroof. If I spiked my hair up it would rub the part around the sunroof, but my head has never hit the ceiling..

then again I have a S2000 and like being cramped into cars..
 
After replying last night I checked today and with the seat all the way down and the seat back in an upright "normal" not laid back position I could just fit all 5 fingers with my hand in a horizontal position. i don't think I had that much headroom in my 4th gen with no sunroof. Again I'm 6-2 with a little bit longer torso.
 
Im 6'6" 240 lbs with a 36" inseam and I struggled with the same thing. For years I had my heart set on a 5th gen trail. Finally was in the market, found the perfect 2010 at the dealership, and tried to climb in....head hit the liner due to the sunroof. Test drove an SR5 with no sunroof and had tons of room. I thought it was a no go on the trail and I was disappointed. I did, however, test drive them both a couple more times. After fiddling with the power seat in the trail I was able to find a sweet spot where my head doesn't hit and I'm comfortable. Took home the trail.

Almost two years later, and I wouldn't change a thing.

On a side note, the passenger side is BAD. When my wife is gracious enough to be the designated driver after I've had a few too many, I really have to recline the seat to get comfy
 
I think the bottom line is that if you are 6'2" or over, then you should probably drive models with and without the sunroof to decide what works best for your needs. The length of your leg, thigh, torso, arms, weight, preferred driving position etc. all play a role here and just comparing height doesn't tell the whole picture. If you will have taller passengers in the 2nd row, then that also may influence your decision.
 
I have just enough room but if I put the seat the way I have in my truck my head just hits. Is there a way to get a right hand drive seat and put in? Long shot but if I can do it that way and not break the bank I may try. I just got my wife a 2016 trail p.
 
6'6" here as well and I just realized recently how close my head is to touching w/ the moonroof...do not like! I had this much room with equal seating comparisons in a 328 BMW sedan.

And my gf is about 6' and the passenger side leaves no room if she has her hair in a ponytail. That's a serious problem! :drama:

Japanese people just don't understand these feels...amIrite?
 
I recently traded in my 4runner for this issue. I am about 6'1''. I had a '16 TP and in the driver's seat I could almost get comfortable, but my hair was always brushing the roof and it was annoying. In the back or passenger seat I had to sit very uncomfortably to keep my head off of the ceiling. It was very hard to find the model I wanted without a moon roof. I'm now in a '19 TRDORP (debadged while waiting at the lot). Miss my TP but LOVE the head room.
