How Long before We See a Sealed Engine with No Oil Dipstick

I also own a German car with no dipstick. There's a place to add oil, but since it is mid-engined, and there's no access to the engine from above, there really is no place to put a dipstick.
When you turn on the car (before cranking the starter), you can wait 6 or 7 seconds for an oil measurement (more like 4 or 5 minutes if the car has been running recently though). Plus it tells you if oil gets low.
So far I'm about 7000 miles in with no problems though.
(Also, this car has the very long oil change interval as well, and while my dealer told me it wasn't necessary, they obliged and did change my oil at 3000 miles.)

I think it was CR that recently did a reliability test of the automotive brands, with Mercedes (of all vehicles) coming in LAST PLACE. No surprise. Actually, I guess it WAS a surprise to most folks. Mercedes worst of ALL makes for reliability??!
My folks had a BMW about six years ago, for one year. It was junk, and they sold it a year later. I knew it was junk before they bought it and tried to warn them, too late.
Then they had a VW. It was also crap, they sold it and said never again.
My wife owned a VW years ago. It was a piece of crap. Nearly impossible to work on.
German cars as a whole are junk, especially for the money, again my opinion.
Never will I own a German made car, never with my money.
( I know I'll catch hell from Thai on this, but oh well.)

I've had two, and both had superb driving dynamics, and were reliable, with great dealer service. I still regret getting rid of the first one (and just recently bought my second one). The only bad thing is that you have to pay up a bit of a premium to buy one.
I've owned American, German, Japanese and Italian cars, and by far the worst are American. The worst thing is that I WANT to like them so much. Unreliability on top of poor build quality and awful dealer service don't make up for how cheap they are.
American cars are the Wal-Mart of the car world.

I have a car that is semi-like that. It is a 1991 Toyota Previa. The engine is under the drivers seat. In order to check the oil, you have to tilt up the seat, remove the carpet, metal cover and reach in and check the oil. I guess Toyota thought that we would never check the oil so they put in a oil reserve in the front of the car. When it sees the oil is low it puts in a little oil, so your never low.
The problem is now that is so old, it for some reason fills your engine with oil all the time, so after a few weeks you are overfilled by 1 to 1 1/2 quarts. The best laid plans often go astray.
