how many cats in a 98 4runner

Does anyone know how many cats are in a 98 4runner, i am trying to figure out what exhaust to put on my 4runner that sounds good.

I was really hoping to open this thread and see someone had stuffed a whole bunch of cats in there 4runner. Bummer!

Unless you live in Cali and drive a '99 or newer it's only 1 catalytic converter per truck.

No. ALL 2001-2002 4Runners have the two-cat system, except in those years it is the Federal 50-state system. Plus the '99-'00 "Cali." trucks were sold in many other states. Many other states also adopted the Cali. standard. I bought my '99 Cali. new in NJ.
