How many of us are posers?

I've taken my 4runner off road twice just to check out the awd low and make sure that it actually works. Where am I in the big scheme of things? I have a feeling that I may of been off roading more than 1/2 of the T4R owners. How many of you are hard core off roaders?

I'm a total POSER!

Our driveway requires 4x4 in any snow amount because of steepness and momentum killing turn in. Vacation to Canada every year,cabin is buried off the road and down very steep lane,some ''boat launches'' are only bare spots along the shore.I'd never get into or out of where I hunt without 4x4,so we use all wheel (wife's Pilot) and 4 wheel drive enough to absorb the 2-4 mpg hit in mileage.

Most of what we call 'back roads' or 'pioneer roads' up here would be considered off road driving in the 'lower 48' states. My 4Runner takes me to some great fishing spots in the summer.
And this winter I wouldn't have been able to get downtown on many days without my 4Runner's abilities.
So, yes, I guess I'm a Poser.

Mine is off-pavement many times per year. 4x per year the conditions are such that a Nissan Sentra wouldn't make it. Truthfully, the remaining 4x per year could be navigated by a well driven AWD Ford Escape.:bash:



I like going up and down stuff but don't like damage so I stick to 'sand pit' areas and dirt roads. I thoroughly enjoy low-range for that but probably could get by with a big transmission cooler and AWD...

I would love ARB bumpers and some real armour underneath. If I had that I may get more aggressive.

So the short answer is I'm a poser I would add that I do tow with mine. No Escape or Subi would be enough for my needs in the towing dept.

Yeah, a half inch of new wet snow on our uber-frozen roads is always fun.
We need about a foot or more of new snow to gain some good traction driving.

Call me semi-poser? Hit the trails once to every other month lately. Rely on the 4x for the laughable MD snow. Gotta get out to western MD after a good snow storm for some snow wheelin'!

I am a total poser - I drive a lifted suv and do not go wheeling.
I did not buy this rig to wheel - I have a KTM for that kind of fun.

Who buys a 30K+ truck to bash on rocks or stick in the mud pit.? - Not me.

I do use it for all kinds of other stuff.. road trip, camp, hunt, haul the dirt bike, go to the beach.


This is as much wheeeling it sees - a trip to the beach or a dirt road to hunt.

Now for the poser pix. Just built the tail gate so I can sit on the back and pose. It fits in the reciever and sits on the back 2 inches of the bumper.

I've only been to Alaska once and I don't see how anyone could own or drive less than an AWD Toyota. I guess it is a tribute to what an excellent all around vehicle this is. (Just put in some better seats!). I can haul lots of trash to the dump with the manly liners that I have!

I think that "poser" would be an adjective but in any case it just reflects a purchase that is more than you need for every day use or need. Not a bad thing...

I try to go wheeling every weekend.. I did not buy a 4x4 to cruise the mall lol. that would be like buying a Vette, and ONLY driving the speed limit. IMHO buying something and not using it is a huge waiste of money, why buy a 4x4 and not wheel it. but thats me and for those that are scared, that they might break something, your driving a Toyota, not a ford, lol these yotas will go more places then you can imagine.

The runner is an excellent urban vehicle - the 911 Porsche is amongst the worst.
