How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

To all there own. I negotiate with OTD price. I can care less what the idiot sales guys think about me. I have the cash. I'm the consumer. I am shelling out the $$. If they say no to my OTD price, I walk. 3 years ago my OTD negotiation equaled to $1500 under invoice apparently plus the fees became less. I will post a Pic of my contract as proof when I get home

Sounds like you got a good deal. What type of fees did you have to pay?

I don't remember anything except that I paid exactly $33,975 OTD on a vehicle that had a sticker of $35,500+ :)

Also,
I ordered my vehicle, it took them over 2 weeks to locate the exact vehicle I wanted... All for the above price. This was in October, same time of year as now, even a few weeks earlier , they were just starting to come into the lots.

Wow...4 pages and not a single person has posted their OTD price except for the OP who posted the OTD price of his 2013

Trust me, with the amount of taxes that I pay, I'm already paying for Obamacare

On a serious note tho, I would like to see OTD prices not invoice stuff....
It's just the way I like to buy.

When you pay under invoice then get charged ridiculous fees by the dealer on top, means you overpaid....

Example, I bought my '11 SR5 for 33,975 OTD. To make that happen, they had to cut a lot of their "fees"

You know you can do BOTH! You negotiate the sale of the 4R 1st to the lowest possible price - comps to others on here based on supply/demand/willingness of dealer to make a sale.

Then you negotiate the fees, what you feel that you feel is appropriate to pay. Hell each sales person will cut the numbers how it best suites them to make a buck. He will ether give you a higher cost for the 4R and lower fees or the other way around to get your OTD price. Why not go in with BOTH guns blazing and tackle the best 4R price AND fee knock downs. Just a thought. Might save you a few bucks, comeing from a M******* himself.

Almost the entire thread is off-topic. Stop arguing about why the OP wants OTD prices instead of pre-tax/title/license. Participate if you want, or don't if you don't want.

I noticed all the posts in this thread(unless I missed one) seem to indicate the posters negotiated directly with the dealer. why is it no one has tried buying online then picking it up ??? I already did my rounds visiting the toyota dealers just to see the 4runners up close, now all i have to do is buy either online or in person....

That right there, is the ONLY way to buy. I pity those who negotiate based on invoice. In my case, I never did trade-in's because I always got better deals (more $$$) selling the old vehicle to a private party. I guess if you don't want to deal with the hassle, then you trade it in, but from hearing about other peoples experiences, and my experiences in selling used vehicles to private party, I'd rather not bother with trading in to the dealer.. But that's just me.

While you may make a few extra bucks on the vehicle by selling to a private party, you receive zero sales tax savings on the new vehicle you are purchasing.

Yeah, almost made an impulse trade in last week. Dealer was gonna give me 31k for my TE (2012 18k miles). This would have saved me nearly $3K in taxes off the new vehicle. I feel like trying to sell my TE for $34K would have been pretty hard + the hassle of actually having to sell it. If you can get a decent value for trade in, it can be worth it at times.

Mine is a 2012 so my OTD price is gonna be useless, but I can say here in CO anyone's OTD price is gonna be about $700 higher for plates... :(

So basically what you are trying to say is we should all do what we want? Thanks for clarifying those options for us! :caked:

In some areas, Toyota dealerships will never in a million years tell you a price, let alone negotiate a price over the phone or online. The only way they will talk is after they get you in the door. I've tried using their online "price quote" request right on their own website, and every single local dealer responds with a vague email asking for your phone number and to set up a test drive. They won't even confirm or deny if a particular vehicle is in stock.

I know there are plenty of straight shooting dealerships out there too that will gladly give you all the info you want, but unfortunately, not all sales regions are as friendly and upfront about things...

The tax savings on dealer trade-ins only works in some states, so sometimes it does not make an ounce of different if you trade-in or if you sell privately.

Based on the impressions I get from your posts, it seems like you're already an excellent negotiator. Why then are you asking for OTD prices others are paying especially if you believe their tactics are flawed and don't personally believe in invoice pricing? Why don't you walk into your dealership and make an OTD offer? I'd like to see their reaction when you quote some guy on the forum paying $XX for his car in Delaware without sale taxes.

For some reason you aren't taking the advice on the forum in that invoice pricing is the best national baseline in determining price. Sure some dealerships buy and sell more volume so their invoice pricing might be lower but they're not going to disclose that to anyone.

Guess what? They are not going to get my business.

I did the whole locate/negotiate thing through email. The first time the dealer saw my face was when I walked in with the check to pick up the vehicle.

For what it's worth, I completely feel you on that, but sometimes there's just no other option. When I got my 4runner last year, not one dealer within a ~100 mile radius would cooperate.

I certainly am not going to drive hours and hours on end just to avoid the hassle of dealing in person, lol. As they say time is money :)

Okay I think we've all done our fair share of :deadhorse:

Let's get :focus: and give this man some OTD prices! (even though I personally feel they are useless) :hiding:

:vader: LOL this thred has strayed a bit. The bottom line is just go to Hassle-free car-buying experience from a nationwide network of certified dealers. - TrueCar and see what it says. Aim for a good price and go for it. Actual vehicle price will heavily depend on where you live.

I live in canada so I had to pay much more than all of you guys in states. 2014 TE premium package with 2 way starter, 3M and undercoat, taxes included $50,250....lol

I had to drive 150 miles to a Toyota dealer that would knock off more than 1000 off msrp. I didn't have to negotiate at all. The price they listed online was the price anyone walking into the dealership would pay. No hidden fees and their prices listed msrp, invoice, and the price they would sell the 4runner for.

I ended up paying 900 under invoice and all it took was a call to a sales person to verify the vehicle was available and to place a hold on it. All of their sales people were salary and it was the best buying experience ever. No hidden fees and no pressure at all.

They make money on volume sales, not by seeing how much money they can squeeze out of the next sucker buyer.

I checked their website and they are selling 2014 4runners for $500 over invoice right now.

i wish to apologize to sputnik for anything i did in this thread to derail or to devalue the thread.

i also apologize to everyone else for any stupidity i may have started with any of my comments.

i have deleted all my comments since not one of them actually did contribute to the OP's original intent.

Your comments were not bad at all. If nothing else hopefully Sputnik will at least either confirm his way of buying is the best (to him) or he will modify his process accordingly. Threads go OT all the time and if they go on long enough they usually get back on topic. Anyway, I thought your comments were relevant.

This is kinda a funny thread. Was searching to learn about pricing...but appears I might be the guy providing it.

Just left dealer. A White TE Premium.

List price: $39,730
Quoted price: $38,230

I asked about all the invoice pricing BS and he laughed. Said that was the price as they don't negotiate, which is a trend here in MN.

While I'd think I could chizzle (just a guess) another $1k or so off at another regional dealer...it also adds to my cost of acquisition. I'll sleep on it and might have another 4Runner.

That said...anybody willing to share the price they paid for their TE Premium?

In Ontario, Canada, our Out-the-Door-tax is 13 per cent. More like a through-the-roof tax, but then we have no charge health care, which many of our fine American friends are pursuing, and some are not, precisely for the tax implication above. Tax on a Limited 4R in the Great White North is almost $6,000, unless you trade in your car, which lowers the price you pay for the vehicle, thus lowering your tax, and your total cost. Then there is a litany of fees and warranty, most of which are negotiable.
Problem with asking the out door price is it doesn't take into careful account the many variables that go into the price you pay. It's a little like asking a stranger for the location of the nearest beer store without getting directions.
