How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Got lucky, found a TRD Pro online at a dealer 200 miles away.
2015 TRD Pro, running boards and sliding cargo deck.
MSRP $42690
Cash $40009

Quick summary: 2014 SR5 4x4 for $34,000 total out the door.
Full story bellow: Purchased in July 2014

Silver 2014 SR5, 4x4, roof racks, running boards, and nav, (no third row seat, no sunroof, no trunk slider, I would have liked a sunroof but not the other stuff) $34k out the door. So the $34,000 includes tax, title, tags, fees, everything. Paid cash which may have helped my bargaining position.

I walked in, found a salesman, took a test drive (I already drove one at another dealership so I knew I liked it already, just felt like doing it again), hopped out and said I wanted to buy one, we negotiated back and fourth (he started at 38,500 +tax or something, I came back at 32,000), blah blah blah, I said the highest I could go was 34 and after checking with the boss upstairs we had a deal.

Now they didn't have one on the lot as described above, so we were negotiating a 4runner that he said he would get within a day or two. Picked it up a few days later and have been loving it ever since. Previously I had a 2009 V8 4runner which was awesome. I like the 5th gen look much more than 4th gen

Finally bought one!

2015 4X4 Limited

Blizzard Paint
Carpet Mats
Cargo Slider

MSRP was 44,599

Drove it out for 42,000.00 includes all fees and 3% NC sales tax.

Feel like I got a fair price.

Help deciding on whether I should pick up this 2011 4runner.

I was able to get a dealership to let go of a 2011 4runner with 79k mile on the odo for 25k OTD. I live in california.

They are advertising it as a 2011 Toyota 4runner 4wd v6 limited (GS)

From my search, GS stands for Gulf State, is that correct?

It show that it has locking differential in the rear which is nice to have. Anyways, do you think its a good deal.

Or should I continue my search for a 5th Gen Trail Edition. I like the look of the 2014-2015 but can't justify the cost since this will be a weekend car.

Any input is very much appreciated. I have been doing a lot of reading and am looking forward to becoming an owner soon. Thank you

Hey, my first post!

2015 SR5 4x4
Third-Row Option
Entune Premium with Navigation
Nautical Blue

MSRP $38,208

OTD Price: $33,376

How?

  1. I started by emailing every Toyota dealer in SC.
  2. Had everyone of them give me a price OTD.
  3. Copied an email to every dealer in one email with the prices that I was quoted.
  4. Asked them for thier final low price.
  5. Took my lowest price to my local dealer and told them if the could beat it, I would buy from them.
  6. They did.

Also got $5,000 trade allowance towards my car that KBB had at $3,500 and needed nearly $1,000 in repairs.

The new 4Runner is currently on a boat headed this way. Can't wait to get it.

2015 4Runner Trail - Canadian

$42500 +tax, bug deflector and undercoat included. That's about 3 grand under list. Corrected to USD that's $34000. I'm pretty pumped. With our dollar taking a beating it's taking a little while for prices to catch up - Canadians, buy now.

so you had a surplus of $1500 on your trade so in reality you got it for $34876 OTD. Still a great deal

I call BS. No dealer is going to eat that much in Sales Tax from a flat out purchase. More likely than not you had a very low trade difference worked out on your deal and they added that into your loan. Oh, and financing Sales Tax is about the stupidest thing you can do. Nothing like paying interest on taxes to the government.

I think too many of you factor in your trade in allowance/equity without explicitly stating in your OTD price.

For example. My negotiated price was $33500 on a 2015 SR5 4x4 with Nav, carpet mats, chrome exhaust tip, roof rails, and cross bars. It came out to about 8% off sticker. Not bad but not great.

Take into account the equity I had in my FJ Cruiser and the final deal was $31000. I put down $1000 for an even $30000 financed.

My true OTD price was $33500, as that is the negotiated price on my 4Runner. However, if you count my equity and down payment, i could say i paid only $30k for my new 4Runner.

So if you're going to quote OTD price paid. Only quote the actual negotiated amount on the vehicle sans sales tax, title, trade in, down payment, etc.

Solid deal - that's almost exactly how low I was able to get a Canadian TE when I was shopping last summer here in Calgary (we won't talk about the PST difference between Alberta and Manitoba though:tongue:). I believe that roughly equals the car cost canada invoice price +$500.

I got it from Fred Anderson Toyota in Columbia, SC. They are a chain but operate independently. Like I said they have only need on since July and I hit them up at the end of February.

No I was usode down in my trade, badly. I had to out a new motor in the car in October to get me by until I could buy a new car.

They sold me the car for $33,000 and some change. They gave me $5,000 to my car and I paid the remainder off out of pocket. I took a loss, but I am happy to have that POS out of my life soon.

Cash does not help at all. Dealers negotiate more when you finance through them. They plan on making money off of the loan. So I would not tell them how you plan to pay until you have agreed on a final price. It would be in your best interest to tell them that you are financing and are interested in financing through them at the beginning of negotiations.

Here is the breakdown of my purchase order. (see picture below)

Car: $32,069
Processing Fee: $495
Sales Tax: $1,302
Other bs fees: $65, $10, $57
After doing math, Total: $34,000

No trade in, I sold my 330i to Carmax a few weeks later, no financing. I wrote a check for the full amount.

*Side note incase someone notices the milage. It arrived in Richmond with 216 miles after they drove it from another Toyota dealership that was rough 200 miles away. I checked the location of that dealership, the carfax, etc. before taking delivery to make sure it wasn't a demo car or something. It was all good, they just had a guy drive it rather than haul it on a carrier. They say thats pretty standard.

Something still doesn't add up. Richmond's sales tax rate is 5.3%.

Your negotiated price on the purchase agreement is 32069.54. 5.3% sales tax would put you at 33769.23. Add your other fees and you're well over 34k.

So lets say they calculated Sales tax off with the purchase fee included, that's 34290.46 still not including your other fees.

I'd like to know how you paid only 4% sales tax. Also interesting is that it's listed as a Title tax, not Sales tax.

I then looked up the dealer site.

New 2015 Toyota 4Runner For Sale | Henrico VA

They have a 15 SR5 MSRP at 36430. Online discount they list it for 34930. You claim to have got them down to 32069 which is almost another 3k off. No trade, paid cash (so the dealer didn't get a kickback from a local bank or Toyota Financial).

Sorry, something still doesn't add up but i don't care anymore.
