How much brake fluid do I need?

Hi all,

I feel like telling MYSELF to do a search! I have, and I can't find it anywhere including my owners and service manuals. It's gotta be SOMEWHERE!

Getting ready to change out my brake fluid. It's a big vehicle with a pretty fancy ABS system so I reckon I need more than a quart, but is two quarts enough?

Also is there any reason not to use a Power Bleeder? The SM outlines the old pump-and-hold method but I'm loath to do that on an older vehicle - I've lost a MC that way before.

Thanks,

Chris

A quart of DOT3 Brake fluid is probably a good amount, 2 won't hut.

I use this set-up at work:

Thanks! I have 2 quarts of ATE Type 200 DOT 4 on hand.

I have that exact power bleeder, but my reservoir interface isn't nearly that fancy! And my catch bottle is a mustard bottle.... :wink2:
