How much did you pay for timing belt ?

We usually charge anywhere from 750 to 1300 depending on which engine it is (3vz, 5vz, 1,2,3uz, ect) and if we purchase parts for it or not. the last 4.7 we did was about 1200 and we bought all toyota parts for it.
Ugh. Not looking forward to this. I'm actually selling my v-8 due to divorce but I keep getting low balled based on the fact I haven't done the belt. I was deployed, bought it a year ago when I deployed and wife drive it, never getting the belt chsnged as the mileage went from 98k to 108k. I get home and she files for divorce. Guess 7 deployments will do that.,.sorry for the rant.

If I was near you I'd be happy to give you a hand and do it. It's not hard at all, just time consuming. But curious...why do you HAVE to sell the 4R. When I got divorced she got the GTI and I got the 4R...and the dog.

Maybe he is trying to get rid of old memories associated with the 4R and start anew. I would do that just to forget about anything associated with my spouse, she can have the dog too. lol

You can get the oem timing belt kit from asin for around $250 and diy. If you have never done it before expect to take about a day or two and the factory manual that you can find on the forum gives every torque spec. Tools you will need really as the most expensive one is an impact that is capable of at least 600-700 ft-lbs. This job was fun in my opinion to do on my 4runner and I recommend you to do it yourself. Most I would pay for this job for someone else to do it, in my opinion, is $1000 as it takes a lot out your time, but if you have a weekend to do car repairs then try it.

Just had mine done (belt and waterpump) in Vermont for $810 at the dealer, with 2gals coolant, and an aftermarket serpentine belt. Thought that was expensive, glad I don't live where they charge $1200:jaw:

It would be interesting to know what those that did this job themselves to post what they paid for the parts and where they got them but also the time involved to do the job.
This would give others all the info to determine if it's worth it for them to do the job or have a dealer or other garage do it instead.

Yes. I don't want the memories. Time to move on.p and I really needed a truck bed for getting my life settled. I've got a 2003 Silverado I bought as a replacement. Maybe one day I'll return to the 4Runner community. Thanks for all of comments and advice.
