How much did you pay for your 3rd gen?

I don't think I have posted here yet: I bought a 2001 T4R Sport, SR5, 2WD, 237k miles on it on 12/18/2013. Paid $7000 out the door from the dealer, including $900 in fees, tags, title, etc. (We pay our ad valorem tax on the vehicle up front in GA now, which is great....$20 tags from here on out).
Vehicle was/is in great shape for the most part - body, paint, ext. in great shape, interior in great shape....dealer rprovided an oil change, put on new Wranglers all the way around ($700 in tires), new front pads and rotor turn, flush and fill radiator.
So far, I have replaced the PCV valve, gotten an alignment, cleaned MAF, TB, and replaced the 2nd O2 sensor to get rid of the P0420 code I got driving home from the dealer..(LOL). Topped off power steering fluid the other day. Replaced all windshield wipers (badly needed). Transmission fluid is nice and pink...
She is getting approx. 17-18 city and 20-21 hwy gas mileage...
Funny thing is, I sold a 2007 Toyota Tacoma crew cab long bed I had bought back in March of 2013. I liked the truck, but, never felt comfortable driving it, hard to park, etc....but this 4Runner...I LOVE IT! I got a great deal on the Tacoma, bought this out of the proceeds and put the rest in my pocket. Could not be happier with the way that turned out. Always wanted a 4Runner, never found one I liked until now - and I jumped on it.
Overall, I am happy with the new vehicle. I'll be getting into some more heavy duty maintenance soon, such as timing belt/water pump, most likely a new radiator to be safe, and new shocks and rear brakes.

99' Limited 160k. Paid $4000
3" RC lift (soon to change) Toytec diff drop. New timing belt, water pump, thermostat, plugs and wires. New brakes. Tranny serviced. VC gaskets. Fuel pump. Front CV's. Typical things.
Bought it needed new tires and with a misfire on cyl. 6. Knew it was injector related. Some $$$ later and 285/75 Goodyear Wrangler MTR's and all 6 injectors serviced and guess what. Runs like a top!
It took me looking 3-4 months religiously to find this runner. All the while not knowing that the whole time she was literally sitting two houses down from me. The previous owner is even a salesman at my work. So yeah I seen the thing everyday and drooled over it. Once it developed a misfire his wife basically put the hammer down and he came straight to me.

2001 SR5 Sport 4wd 138K $10,000 private party. Damn Pacific NW prices.
Believe it or not, I looked at 20+ others from Seattle to Portland that were priced at $12,000 and were beat to sh*t. The one I bought was the nicest I had seen, no rust, no leaks, everything was well maintained with receipts and the owner didn't even eat inside it.

It is a very nice truck for a 2wd but hell... I think you could have got a nice 4x4 for that price. Granted I'm not sure what they are going for in your area.

Bought mine about 6 months ago, 1997 Limited 4x4 with factory E-locker, 138k, well maintained, no drips or leaks, no rust anywhere. Done a few maintenance items, and she hasn't given me any issues so far. Paid $3,800 cash. I can't get enough of this truck, I've been wheeling almost every weekend since I got er... converting friends to Toyota fans in the process.

I hear ya - I didn't see any 4x4 available at the time I was looking, in fact, there were only a few T4R available within a 50 mile radius via Autotrader....and, I don't really do any 4-wheeling anyway....Besides, since I don't do 4 wheeling, seems it just leaves that much more for me to get fixed when it breaks....not to mention increase in insurance prices.
So, at the end of the day, I am at peace with the outcome...

Paid 6400 for my 97 limited with 127k. It needed the 100k service but came rust free and was garaged since new. If I had to do it over I prob would have hot into a 2003+ for more power which I need for towing, but the 3rd gen gets it done and looks much better IMO!
I just picked up a 2001 Limited with 103,500 miles for $6200.
I think I got a good deal on it. It has been dealer maintained, verified on Toyota.com/owners. At 100k it had timing belt, water pump, belt, thermostat, front and rear brakes and rotors, and new Michelin tires. Reading through the prior history it has had all of the scheduled maintenance including trans flushes, transfer case and diff fluid changes. Plus the leather drivers seat cover was recently replaced.
The only rust I could find was on the hitch. It needs new rear shocks and probably springs but I think I will just throw some spacers at it.
This is my first Toyota, it is quite different than the diesel Fords and solid axle jeeps that I have been driving for years.

I paid $3500 for her. Private sale, one owner, 212k. His for sale sign said $4500, I asked him what his no b.s. bottom dollar was and he said $3500. Runs/drives good. I am a mod junky so look out.....but instead of doing this to a $26k Jeep JK, I absolutely love that my initial investment was only $3500. So far my spreadsheet puts me at $7k after lift, tires, rims, UCA/LCA's, shocks, tie rods, Tundra brake kit, etc. I could have gotten by without most of it. While I could definitely do my build cheaper and i love wreñching, i just don't have the time to fight old bushings, recondition parts, or spend time running back and forth to auto shops on top of having them charge me.

bought my 99 in 2011 for less than the firsthand it had 57k. It didn't run had mouse eaten wiring and had been driven 1500 miles over 5 yrs. It rested under a tree and was never washed or loved and the frame had a ton of scale rust for which I did the tacoma frame spray. It also got brakes,tires,wires,plugs tbelt and water pump
Today the 99 is my daily and the 98 is a backup car.

Just purchased mine today in Sacramento, bought at a stealer ship (told myself I wouldnt ever buy from a used car dealer) 171k, leather with no cracks or tears even on drivers seat, 5 SPEED and 4wd. Paid 7k out the door, which is comparable to private party for 5 speeds so I'm happy as long as no check engine lights come up anytime soon...

The worst part is that 3 months ago 3 5 speeds all under 110k were posted but I didn't have the money then. But, I can complain I'm digging the truck so far.
I bought my 96 about 3 weeks ago for $2500. The truck is a SR5 with an automatic, and all the power windows and locks. The truck is in good shape with a few exceptions. The paint is trashed, and the truck needs a rack and pinion. It has 201k miles on it and runs strong. The rack and pinion will be fixed for about $300 in a week or so, as this is not my main vehicle.
I was thinking of "painting" it with bed liner, and not worrieing about Arizona Pin Striping. I plan on hitting trails with this truck, and having fun with it. Come to think of it, the tires are wrong for off roading, so I'll replace those after the rack, and lift I want to do. I want armor and bumpers also, and maybe some lights, so this toy is going to keep me busy! I'm looking forward to this adventure.

I got mine a couple of months ago for a $2500.00 credit on a pickup, it's a 1999 limited that's been in the family since it came off the lot new. It now has 197,000 easy miles on, I've put $4500.00 in maintenance and extras on it in the past two weeks, so I've got $7000.00 in it and probably a couple grand more to get it like I want it. Think it's gonna work out good for a pasture mobile.
