2002 4runner Sport
I bought my 2002 sport in 2005 for about 15k with 80k miles. Traded in my 2003 Tacoma Prerunner with 60k miles for about 13k so paid about $2000 to upgrade to the 4runner. So i've had it for 9 years this month and am just over 175k on the beast now.
Love this rig.

I picked up my '98 SR5 with a 5 speed and 117K for $8700 back in September.

The PO made a deal that if I pay the mechanic for the work he had already done breaking down part of the engine, then the truck was mine. $600 and I had a dead engine inside of a great rig. Not sure of the exact price, but for less than $1,000 in parts I had it ready to hit the road again (friend is a mechanic, so free labor if I helped him re-build his garage).
Long story, short, I have a brand new 15 year old truck for about $1500!!! :guitar3:

I just paid 4k for my 2000 sr5 4x4 black automatic with 116k miles. Already added some tall springs with 5100 billies and a set of fj 17 inch wheels. got a 1 inch bl heading my way.

In 1998 I bought my 1998 Limited for $36,500 plus tax and license. 17 years later I still own this vehicle and have 189,000 miles on it. My runner is still in showroom condition.

I paid $7000 back in September for my 2002 Sport Edition with 144,000 miles, about 20% tread left on the tires and a little bit of rust (I'm in SC, but the car was originally from Michigan.) It was one of the first 4runners I've seen in this area that was up for sale, every runner that goes up for sale usually gets snatched up within a couple days.

97 Limited 4WD $500
Oct 2013 co-worker was leaving town and was going to junk his 97 Limited for $500. I bought it for the same amount - it had 272K miles on it but had brand new Cooper Discoverers on it. I was going to swap the wheels (with new tires) on my 2000 and junk the 97 but noticed my 2000 frame was toast. So I swapped all the post 99 upgrades onto the 97 that I could, swapped the seats, etc and junked the 2000. Now it has 282K and is still going.

Just purchased my very first 4x4 and it's a '97 T4R Limited.
175k miles.
OME 3" Suspension lift
33" tires.
Frame is solid as is pretty much the entire undercarriage.
Previous owner kept up with maintenance and is fairly knowledgeable on these rig.
The sale is still pending a mechanical safety inspection, but I should have her in my driveway by next weekend.
Paid 4,500$.
It's got a couple of bad rust spots (Rear driver's side wheel well, top of tailgate at the washer fluid nozzle are the 2 worst spots I've seen).
Purrs like a kitten though and drives real nice.
Lower ball joints have been replaced and beefed up.
Rear axle seals and bearings were replaced last year.
Timing Belt and water pump were last done about 100k miles ago, so I'll be looking at doing those soon.
There are a few other things, but considering the age and mileage of this rig, it was very well taken care of and I foresee it being reliable and fun for me for a solid handful of years.
I should note that this isn't our main vehicle/DD. It's really a toy for me and a second practical vehicle.

Very nice! That is such a good look for these trucks. It's simple yet very robust. It has a perfect amount of lift and just enough tire to fill the wheel wells.

I paid $6400 for a 2002 SR5 186k auto in pretty good shape inside and out. Also had service records all the way back to 30k miles with it. There are several $500 to $1000 service bills where the guy let them fix whatever they thought it needed. Plus the $400 title/tag fee that my state does now on PP purchases. Has a few dings and a scratch or 2 but overall good condition. Also had running boards but that was the first thing I took off of it. I was on the hunt for a 3rd gen for a couple months. Made a couple 2+hour drives to look at a few. Everything in the $4000 range was junk around here. Several of you guys got some great deals. I guess I overpaid but around here I could get my money back if I wanted to.
