How much did you pay for your 3rd gen?

I paid $2,700 for a '96 SR5 in Florida. After all the money I've sunk into it in the last month I'm not sure it was a great deal!

Bought in April of 2014 for $3800 with 210k on the clock from the original owner.

Replaced the timing belt, water pump, all drive belts, lower control arm bushings, steering rack bushings, new sway bar links, new sway bar bushings, new lower ball joints, inner tie-rods, outer tie-rods, new cv's, new front wheel bearings, Toytec BOSS coil over kit, with rear Bilsteins and super flex coils, Light Racing upper control arms, Trail Ready Beadlocks, 285/70/17 Goodyear MT/R's. Once I get the BudBuilts on I will have right about $10k in it all-and-all. Damn, that added up quickly...

I bought mine in April 2014 with 97,000 miles on it for $2800. It's a Sr5, Auto, 4wd, Black with a blueish intrior. Love it so far. Not a fan of the aftermarket wheels on it but it did have new 31x10.50x15 BFG's.

bought my 2002 sr5 sport on 12/31/2014 with 135k for $6500. absolutely nothing wrong with it and the timing belt and water pump were replaced a week before I bought. very happy with it, I like it more than my 96 bronco I used to own. :fishing:

I got my 2000 Limited with Multi-mode and E-locker for $9500 with 110k miles on it. Needed the TB done but got it done through a friend quick and cheap.

Bought on 9/7/2014. 1999 V-6 SR5 5 speed manual with 202K miles. Paid $4000 knowing it needed a timing belt and clutch. 3rd Gen 4runners sell for a premium in my area.

I just bought my first 4Runner last week. Came across a '99 3.4 Limited w/204k which needed some "TLC". Negotiated and agreed upon $1800. Complete steal in my opinion. So far replaced spark plugs/wires, PVC, air filter, and currently getting the windshield done as well. Any advice on keeping her running another 200k?

61,000 miles, one owner, Toyota serviced, $8,800.

In 6 months it has 20,000 more miles on it.

I got my little 4-Runner off of Craigslist. A college aged girl was selling it with the help of her dad. After some negotiating we settled on $4000. My 4Runner is a '98 SR5 with sunroof, and had brand new tires! I still love it to death. It had about 178,000 miles but has never had any mechanical issues.

I just bought my 2000 LTD 2wd with 155k off Craigslist for 4800$.

Had to travel to purchase--in my area similar vehicles were being sold within a day for 6500$+ (popular college kid- or first-car).

Needs a little love including some brakes and a TB/water pump, but at that price it seems doable. Runs really well, did some basic maintenance. Really happy with it.

99 limited 4wd bought last year pretty much mint condition except the tranny little over 200k mi for $1000 2001 sr5 4wd 140k mi bought 3 mo ago solid no rust for $1000 also had pink death I search Craig's list every day for the pink death get em for next to nothing rebuild the trans for about $600 and got a pretty solid truck

I paid $6400 for a 2002 SR5 186k auto in pretty good shape inside and out. Also had service records all the way back to 30k miles with it. There are several $500 to $1000 service bills where the guy let them fix whatever they thought it needed. Plus the $400 title/tag fee that my state does now on PP purchases. Has a few dings and a scratch or 2 but overall good condition. Also had running boards but that was the first thing I took off of it. I was on the hunt for a 3rd gen for a couple months. Made a couple 2+hour drives to look at a few. Everything in the $4000 range was junk around here. Several of you guys got some great deals. I guess I overpaid but around here I could get my money back if I wanted to.

I'm experiencing the same. Found a 4x4 with bad cat and 240k in atl for 5500. Clean truck though.

1/7/2015 - $11,500 private seller via Craigslist near Tacoma, WA - 2002 Limited 4WD Millennium Silver, 117k, in extremely good condition. Loads of necessaries taken care of at 93k (timing belt, water pump, huge list of related and similar items). LBJs replaced on recall at 53k, so maybe that's my first order of business. Mechanically sound, fully detailed, almost no rust underneath, very well maintained, heated leather seats, heated mirrors, tow package, all possible buy-up options, all electrics/electronics working properly with the exception, maybe, of a light in the climate control panel. So, in all, a very nice 13-year old truck for what I feel was a fair local price, but not a great deal. For us, it's purpose-specific for camping, dragging kayaks, boats, and bikes and exploring the backwoods, oceans, volcanos, and whatever else the Pacific Northwest has for discovery. 21 mpg on a little ride to Mt. Walker and fresh Hama Hama oyster munchin' on the way back. ScanGaugeII proclaims, "No codes found, Ready." I'm ok with all this.

2002 new cost: $40,600
2014 inflation adjusted cost: $53,427

2014 purchase: $11,500
2002 inflation adjusted cost: $8,740

I'm very pleased that the previous owners scraped a load of numbers off the truck, but left most of the truck for me!

I just bought a super clean 97 Limited a month ago, just turned 160k, only thing that doesn't work is CD player, even has rear locker. I love this thing. I bought off CL for 4500

I picked mine up for $4k. 176k miles when I got it. Needs timing belt and water pump done, and rear axle seals and brakes. I've put 20k on it in a little over a year and haven't really had to do anything to it other than a battery.

I picked up my '99 sr5 with 92K miles on 7/25/14 for $7500. I got it in great condition and it is super clean minus some minor rust on the bottom. I'll have to do the regular maintenance at 100K miles too. Very happy with my purchase!

Just picked up a 2002 Sport Edition 4wd w/152k. Paid $7900. Probably a little high, but very good price for the area/region that I live in-these things don't last more than 1-2 days on Craigslist here. In addition, the previous owner, [MENTION=82424]Boiseflyfisher[/MENTION] on this forum, added a bunch of tasteful items: new radiator, aux trans cooler, Yakima roof rack, Wet Okole seat covers, front & rear Weathertechs, painted 5 stars, and TBelt & WPump already completed. Been searching for a Sport for a while so I definitely couldn't pass up the opportunity... The 4th gen Sport is now FOR SALE!!!
