How much did you pay for your 3rd gen?

Just bought mine a few weeks ago for $3100.

98' Limited 4x4 w/locker 205k miles. It needs some love but its been well cared for. It needs new brakes, probably new wheels, and something is up with the steering too. Looks like the previous owner used it for towing.

Picked her up last weekend.

'99 Limited 4x4 with E-locker. 135k miles. Toytec lift and body lift, ARB bumper, TBU, anytime diff mod, new wheels.

Paid 6k.

I got my 99 Limited for $5k last month. Actually purchased it from a family member after my 98 (bought to $4,200 March of 2015) was totaled this winter.

You found good miles at a decent price. Hard to find a 3rd gen anymore with under 200k that don't want a huge premium (Which you didn't pay btw, would be in the $7k-9k range in CO).

If I were you, I'd call Toyota with the VIN ASAP and find out if the LBJ's were done under recall or not.

If not, head over to a Stealership and get'er'done!!!!!

And with PO having rear axle seals done, you saved on a huge headache.

You're telling me, luckily this one was garaged all it's life. There's a photo of it in the newb section. I've put quite a bit of work in so I'm a proud owner, but I think we all are.

Nice. I assume you will keep it garaged, but either way -- check out fluid-film -- tons of threads on the 3rd gen section about it and other rust-prevention/proofing methods.

I'll be sure to do that, I appreciate the info.

Currently it has a strange issue where the accessories all come on when I flip on the side markers and tails. I'm almost certain it has something to do with the wiring. Once the key is in accessory mode I can't get the side markers and tails to turn off regardless of whether the switch to the left of the steering wheel is on or off.

It's driving me bonkers, but I haven't had time to dig in.

Back in December I picked up a '00 4Runner limited with e-locker, 229k miles. Slight body damage on front fender/bumper and needed a radiator.
Paid $2k for it.

Picked up my 98 Limited for $3600. 236k and rolled back to 160k after it was totaled. Front impact that made the bumper a little off kilter and needed a headlight replacement, other than that it missed the frame!

Just picked up a 1998 4 Runner SR5 with 222,000 for $2000. Just needs a thorough cleaning. Guy got a crew cab Tacoma and needed it sold for the plate. Spent its whole life in Florida.

picked up a '99 sport 4x4 auto with 237k well cared for miles bone stock in sept last year for $3500. guy had it for 14 years longer than his wife and 4 kids. Had a lifted tundra and wife told him to get rid of it.

so far added 285/75/16 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's and TRD tundra coils and 5100s front and OME 906 rear. 6000k HIDS

me and the GF are enjoying our new adventure mobile!

I'm not crazy in assuming the accessories (radio) shouldn't power on with the headlight switch and the side marker and tail lamps should turn off when the headlight switch is flipped to off while the key is in accessory mode correct?

Just making sure I'm not losing my mind and there is an issue at hand.

Actually paid $6K, drove it for 3 years, and had it totaled out for $5900. Money well spent! Bought an 06 Sequoia to replace it.
