I traded a shotgun for this 96 with 311k miles on it with blown head gaskets so I bought a jdm 5vz for 1300 bucks. It’s got an e-locker too [emoji106]

I paid $6500 for mine last year - 2002 Limited with 190k, all stock. Great shape, with hardly any frame rust for this area. Came with extra tires and wheels which I unloaded for $400 too.
I knew at the time I overpaid a bit, but the frame was the cleanest I’d seen of the dozen or so I’d checked out so far. Plus the PO had taken great care of it and I felt confident about the truck. After spending more time on this forum, I’m realizing I overpaid a little more than a bit... But I’ve had very few issues over the past year, so I don’t feel too bad about that.

Don't worry about it, and take these "I bought a clean 4runner for $1000" posts with a grain of salt. Even if these are true legit prices paid, every market is different. There is no way any of these sub $2k deals are even close to reality in my market (western WA), unless the seller had no idea what the market is. I see no reason to get worked up over what you paid. It was a fair price to you, and that's all that matters.
FWIW, I paid $7250 for my red 02 SR5 a year ago at 164k miles, no rust, very good condition, with a fresh timing belt job, from the original owner. He had others beating down his door for it had I not bought it immediately.

Hi everyone! Another first time poster, but long time lurker.
My ‘02 , SR5, 3.4L, auto, 4WD, that I purchased last April for $6,900 with 163k.
Very nice condition, with zero rust, or even any surface rust anywhere! It’s been in Northern Calif since new, and I doubt it’s ever seen snow or been off road. Not sure if I paid high or low for the region, but I wanted it! Prices are all over the board here.

Ohio but with that said minimal rust as far as the frame goes. After reading other replies I feel lucky that I got such a good deal. Two previous owners that both worked for a Toyota dealership and I found the on the book records all the way back to 59k miles. I replaced the exhaust from the cat back with the Gibson stainless set up when the muffler rusted out.... a little overkill but that’s me not wanting to replace it again for the foreseeable future. And some new inner/outer tie-rod ends. Otherwise she has been great !

Just bought 2-20-20 a 1 owner with 159,000. Only been driven 2K miles a year since '05 as it was the vehicle at a vacation home, always garaged, no rust. $1600.00. Needs tires, timing belt done @ 143k. Did a tune up and spent $300 on getting split seams fixed and a panel replaced on the leather seats. The only thing that doesn't work appears to be the rear window washer. Has rear dif locker too.

I bought my 2002 SR5 4X4 with 197K miles for $1000 last fall. All it really needed was an alternator and windshield. Mine is the Sunfire Red Pearl color, and the clear coat looks pretty bad on the roof and hood, but I'm not too concerned.
I knew I was getting an excellent deal, but it sounds like I could sell this truck in a few areas of the country for $6K+! It's insane how prices can vary so much in different markets.
