I understand.. and thank you for clarifying what came "stock". The SR5 that are available here in Canada come with unpainted bottom portion body panels. Having it color coded means more $$. Adding a spoiler means more $$. Adding a roof rack means more $$. This of course was only true up until the 05' came out...

Don't get me wrong.. I'm all for the mods. :D Just wanted to see how much people are saving.

I really like heated leather seats... so that's why the limited.. I wouldn't go and buy a SE and then add leather seats to it... Maybe the items you guys are adding is less than the cost of paying that extra money to get a Limited.... but I know some of you spend ALOT of money adding little things and by all means.. its GREAT.

What fun is it if everything's already there? Personally, I think it's fun being able to take apart your car and learn how certain things work. It would've cost about $6k more for the Limited.

SR5 4Runners manufactured after April 2003 come standard with color-coded cladding, running boards, fog lamps and 16" alloys. Most if not all have a roof rack as an installed option.
 
well.. the thing is that I hope we're talking about one model all the way through....

Limiteds don't come in 4x2, so it'll cost a bit more. and V6 jumping to a V8.. I just priced things out and I guess you would save a couple thousand by going aftermarket... which means more money for other toys. :D

I completely understand why people would want to take things apart... I like it... I even took apart the whole interior including the carpets to install sound deadening material throughout.. and boy did that take a long time... :D
 
Yup, I was comparing to a V6 4x2 Limited. For some reason, when I was pricing out cars, dealers weren't discounting Limiteds as much as they were with SR5's. Sure, I'd take a Limited any day over my SR5 but for right now I already think an SR5 is too expensive of a car for me.

I have owned my truck for one month.. so far this is what I have.

7. Hilux surf trash bag $44 (still on back order)
8. 15k Service. $85
9. Cabin Filter $15

Im actually pretty close to completing my mod list. Once I get new tires and some seat covers , I think I will just drive her into the ground. I hope to get about 250K out of her.

Going a bit off topic but all 4Runners come in either 4x2 or 4x4 for all trim packages. Toyota won't sell 4x2s in northern states and Canada.

Well, i have about 32 months left on the lease. I have 15k a year for miles, and i pay 370 a month for the loaded v6.

Don't know what i should do. I want to mod the isht oiut of it, with borla exhaust, put maybe a lift on it with bigger tires, and some other isht. But like i said, i don't want to get it all done, then have to give it back

Just wondering

A. WHat you think a good P.O.A. is
B. Do you think that the new body style will be out in 3 years
 
I've owned my '05 for less than a month, so I'm just getting started:

Brookstone panoramic rearview ($30 - a looong time ago)
Ultrasonic backup sensors - $50
Aux. Backup lights - $25
OmniFi 20GB MP3 player - $250 (going in this weekend)
USA Spec dual input HU adapter - $60
Mini floormats - $40
Front license plate holder - $5
Armrest cargo light - $10

I also decided against the Limited because I didn't want leather seats. Steering wheel controls and 4WD were my only must-haves. I wanted the sunroof, but there wasn't one in the SE that had one but didn't have other stuff (like the spoiler) that I didn't want. Wow, was that confusing to anyone else?

I never agreed with leasing a vehicle for myself mostly because I want to customize it the way I want w/o worrying about returning it after a period of time. Yes, it costs more but, to me, it's worth the peace of mind. Now if you're on the fence about buying it from the bank because there "might" be a new body style in 3 yrs, you're screwed for life :p. There's always going to be a new model or updates along the way. That didn't stop me from buying a '04 V8 when the '05 had 35hp more and coming in 3 months (when I bought). I just ended up with a better deal because of it and I don't regret it at all (ok... maybe just a little ;): ).

I also smoke in my cars and use the ashtrays, if it has one. It's mine. I'm not babying it for the next future owner so I can get a couple of bucks more if/when I sell it.

Have fun with it. After all, you only live once. :D

Oh, and i still can't believe you use the ashtray in the M3. There aught to be a law.

But as far as mods go, and isht like that, i am on the track to doing well (knock on wood), and money that i spend i want to

A. make a difference
B. not regret

So, that is why i am unsure of buying at the end, or just giving it back.

Efing rockand hardplace. But that is why i ask these questions, cuz most of you guys know alot more about this stuff than i do, and can trust your answers to be unbiased

I agree with Bobby on this. I've never felt leasing was the way to go if you actually wanted to keep a car, but to each his own. I'm sure you have your reasons for leasing.

If Toyota's still using the same time schedule for the 4R as before, the 5th gen should be out in 2009-2010 which is still a ways off, but they'll probably be making some small changes to the 4th-gen in 2006 or 2007.

Just go with whatever gut feeling you have. Did you want to keep it when you leased it?
 
I just never leased a brand new car, so i wanted to keep my options open. In addition, i didn't discover this site, and the fact that the car has surpassed all of my expectations by a large margin until i got it.

I mean lets face it, the reason why we talk so much on here, is cuz the car is efing great. And i totally have a new respect and a new level of quality in mind when i buy a vehicle b/c of this car not that i think i will stray, but just in general.

I just wished there was an easier way to make up my mind. That is either to buy it out, or just give it back

Just wait it out, I've leased several cars and the lease came to an end and I sold them to friends or people I knew and made 5k, the lease company will either take it back or let you buy it or you can extend the lease, you have options

If you're going to do the mods, do them sooner rather than later. This way, you'll enjoy the mods for a longer period of time before you give the truck back.

One other thing to do would be to buy it out now and finance it so you don't waste money on the lease payments.
