To add to this, I just dropped 600$ on LBJs, OTREs, Drive Belts, Air Filters, Oil Filters and a fuel tank strap/band.
Going to install that in the spring along with a new passenger side CV more than likely.
Oh man.. a lot. I haven't gone budget on anything really.

My number would be high since I bought my 4Runner fairly new. But all-in including lift, armor, supercharger, etc. I'm still far below the cost of a brand new 4Runner, and mine is more capable and 10X more fun to drive.
Repair-wise I have spent nearly nothing. Mod-wise, I could have done without all of it but I wouldn't get as far offroad, had as much fun, or gotten there as fast.

Well now, this is a scary thread!
My wife and I made a huge mistake and drove our stock 4runner to the Northwest Rally early last summer. I left with my eyes glossed over, and a list of things I MUST HAVE NOW! Not too long after, I discovered T4R.ORG.
In those few short months, I have purchased a new suspension/lift, bull bar, high end tires, and some recovery equipment. I had a mechanic install a transmission cooler when he was doing some other work. I have also had a lot of repair work done this year and done some myself.
This week the rig goes back to the shop for it's new dual battery system with two new batteries, and it's winch.
Total cost to me since driving out of that damned rally just for the upgrades (including next weeks) Over $9000.00. This does not include another $2000.00 plus that has gone into repairs and maintenance.
I am not a rich man. I think I need a 12 step program for this soon.:shrug:

Paid way too much to begin with for a 2000 Limited with locker in desert dune from a dealership in Seattle. It's the model and color I wanted and I'm very impatient so I'm already behind. Put around 4k into it so far and just getting started. King coilovers coming soon.

In my case, the numbers are for pretty much everything (save sundry items like wiper blades & washer fluid)
It does include however major expenses and repairs, tires (summer & winter sets), tune ups, belts, brakes etc etc.
So break it down and it's about $1660 CAD a year ($800 US per year) over it's 18+ year life.
Not bad really.
Gas cost (about $4.60 per gallon regular)?

I think that since these 4Runners have such a low cost of ownership we spend what everyone else is spending on repairs, new engines/transmissions and instead into mods! We feel bad that everyone else pays so much for their trucks to keep them going so we spend a lot too. Except ours are actually fun to drive and have cool stuff.
Not counting repairs/refresh I did when I first got it and since ($400 on suspension, $1000 on steering & ball joints), I've put in now about $1100 on mods. But my truck looks completely stock from the outside, it's the interior and engine that's getting all the mods for me...

The rear upper control arm bracket broke off and I can't be bothered with getting it welded. Other than that and a few rust spots, it's fine.
Still my daily driver. In fact, November I put in a new rad and thermostat, new discs & pads in March.
My truck is all original OEM and all dealer service since new and I have all records.
Wife is bugging me to move on :moping:.... so if you wanna make a reasonable offer for the whole thing......I`m not looking at making money on it.
Would like it to go to a fellow 4Runner lover.
Even have summer tires & rims.
