How much labor?

How many hours of labor should it take a pro to install a SS 1.2 on a 97 SR5?

It's not too bad to do with a buddy. It took my friend and I about 6 hours to do front, rear, panhard drop bracket, and LBJ's. But the LBJ's took about half of that as they had some 'issues' to sort out. Also reused the top hats from the stock front struts and had to cut off the shocks... So if it goes well you could do it in a few hours with some help from a friend. Get some long cheater bars and don't be afraid to use the stock jack to get the front struts in. Lots of info out there.

Thanks for the info. I really don't have the space or equipment to do it with a friend, but I do have a good mechanic who knows his Toyota stuff and will let me just bring in the parts for him to install. I am just trying to figure out what the labor is going to cost me on top of the kit. If it's 6 hours for two guys in the back yard, how does that equate in hours for a pro with a lift, full tool set, etc.

If he lets you help too, it would cut some time down. For some of the parts, 4 hands are better than 2... I'd say if you had NO issues, it could be done in a couple hours. Especially if it's take out and put in. If you're re-using parts, it takes a bit more time... But as soon as something gets stuck/rust/stripped. The rear shocks can suck. The tops are horrible.

I'm guessing shop would charge 6 hours labor at least. The ss kit takes the longest. Has a lot to do. Other than suspension they will be doing panhard bar, rear brake line, bump stops, sway bar relocation, diff drop, parking brake bracket and rear driveshaft zurk. This is a lot more involved than a normal 3" lift.

I was quoted $400 for bring your own suspension for a similar setup. Northern CA. Decided to have a go at it myself this weekend.

I struggled with the brake lines, on the 01-02 there are 2 you have to change. The hard part is getting them lined up perfectly to put the clip in. I don't like the design.

Make sure you put the front springs on the correct side. Ask me how I know.
