How much rust is too much rust

What shop was that? I may need it after this winter, and I'm in the area.

The place is called Cape Cod Auto Connection in Hyannis MA...Someone who works there and is on this forum recommended them to me.

i bought a 99 limited that had a lot of rust , did some patching on the frame with a Lincoln mig welder , sent the rear out to be sand blasted and por 15 everything .

A Harbor Freight welder is a great welder to learn on. It's what I learned on a couple years ago. Don't get me wrong, this task isn't for everyone. However, I'm willing to bet you can find someone to do this for around $500. Look for a small mom and pop shop. They don't have the overhead that larger companies do, and still have quality work. I still wouldn't tell someone to walk away from it; even if they can't do the welding themselves.

Yeah, I bought one too and have done a bunch of projects with it, for the money, I don't think it can be beat. It got soaked when my basement flooded a few months ago, so I have let it dry out and will see if it will work again. If not, not too much lost.

I think I looked at them when I was searching for my 4runner, but the one they had that I wanted seemed to have some transmission issues they couldn't yet figure out, so I moved on. Sadly I moved on to so much rust that it may be the end of it, so kind of an out of the frying pan into the fire thing...

Yeah they do sell...They had a lot of 3rd gen 4Runners for sale...Some of them were over priced in my opinion...But they do know these Toyota's
