How much sprung height do the rear spring cones add?

I'm rebuilding a 1996 2.7 manual Hilux Surf (JDM 3rd Gen 4Runner).

I've got Bilstein 4600s all round, OME 880s on the front and OME 906s on the rear. I noticed that the 906s were shorter than the original, sagging stock springs, but assumed that the spring rate would be much higher. Now I'm not so sure.

The engine is not yet in, but already I suspect the front of the truck is going to be higher than the rear.

My rear axle arches (with nospare!) are 90cm or 35.5" off the ground with 265/70 16s on, and this feels low. I was expecting a bit of lift from the 906s. They also seem very soft.

Before I go and buy 891s, I was wondering one thing. I've seen on the US 4Runners that they have rubber cone inserts in the rear coils, which the Hilux Surf (at least mine) did not come with.

These cones are going to add some height as they must have a metal spring mounting plate... can anyone tell me how thick this is, i.e. how much height they will add to the spring?

The "spacers" at the top of my cone bump stops add very little height. I just measured with a caliper at several different places around the seating point of the spring and it was about 8.4-8.9mm. I think you'll need to do a real spacer kit to get much lift.

I actually took mine out because I wanted to lower my rear end. I didn't get the drop that I wanted.

According to my research, your Surf didn't ever have them. I don't know why the US has the cone bumper.
For reference, I have OME 890 rear coils and 265/75R16 tires and I sit 978mm ground to wheel arch.

The engine is now back in the truck and although it doesn't have wheels on the front currently, just lowering the front (to get the engine in) has brought the back up. So maybe 8mm will help, but I suspect that I might need stiffer springs once the weight is in (I carry two spares). I just have to wait until I can get it back on its wheels.

Thanks. I'm not sure if cone / no cone is a US / JDM things as I think early 3RZ 4Runners also didn't have cones. Odd

The front of the truckis back on axle stands to get it low enough to swing the engine in, and the rear arches have gone up to 930 mm or 36.6". I still feel like the front may be too high when it's back on its wheels, but I just have to wait and see.
