How obsessive-compulsive are you?

Am I the only one who acts like they seriously need therapy when it comes to caring for their 4Runner? I've had mine for only a week and I feel that my friends are going to intervene and insist I get help. Here is the numbers game:

5 Number of times I've washed my truck in 6 days.

$279 Amount in dollars of car car products, microfiber towels, and car wash quaters I've spent in the past week.

4 Number of towels that line my floorboards...ON TOP of my all weather mats :D .

3 Hours I spent policing my garage during a get-together at my place.

8 Number of times I had to tell people not to lean on my car.

1 Dirty looks I've received from my girlfriend when I explained how to use the oh-sh!t handle to pick yourself off the seat instead of sliding down and creating unneccessary leather wear.

2 Number of air dusters I keep in my console to routinely "squirt" my dash and vents to battle dust build up.

umm.. i don't think it needed to be washed that many times.. i've washed mine twice since i got it a little under three months ago..

as for the leather wear, it's gonna happen.. both front and rear seats.. it's just a matter of time.. but no reason in not trying to prevent it :p

anyways, Congrats on the new Runner! :)

Let's see. Mine is washed every week, depending on the weather. Waxed every month. leather is treated once a month. Since I work out of my house, I don't leave if it is raining, unless it is necessary. If it is raining and my wife is home, I will take her car. My first set of wipers dry-rotted within the first year. To top it all off, I have a book in my truck that lists every time I have washed, waxed, treated the leather, etc......I might have a hint of OCD.

I could understand where you are coming from. I wash mine once every two weeks and usually wax around once a month. I always clean the rims by hand and armorall the tires. I don't have to worry about treating my leather because I don't have leather! I have gotten over parking away from cars and worrying about people leaning on my truck. I now park it where it can be noticed or by other 4Runners. I still turn back everytime I get out of it. Man it looks so good! :yesyes:

Good luck with your new 4Runner.

Of course washing your truck 5 times in six days is overboard, but it kept getting dirty and there are still people that haven't seen it. It's the newness factor...taking it offroad right now makes me want to vomit. Is everyone sure these aren't luxury cars? It sure seems like it when I ride around in mine. It just needs a few scratches and then I MAY loosen up a bit.

I try to wash my truck every three weeks.. my trip this summer kindof delayed me from washing it..

i need to treat my leather sometime soon though..

Yep, you seriously need :help:! remember it's just a car! :D well I can see why you do this. When i got my first new car I baby it like that too. but washing it 5 out of 6 days is a little to much...!:nono:

Nope, you're not the only one! I'm very anal about the way I keep my car. I get twitchy when people touch the paint when they close my doors. I don't allow anyone to close my hatch cause they have a habit of touching every part of it when trying to get it closed.

$279 isn't a lot, I've spent WAY too much on car care products. I'm not crazy! :rolleye2:

Sorry...I don't get it. It's a 4WD truck, right? And going offroad makes you want to vomit? Are you sure you bought the right vehicle?

Here's mine about a week after I bought it....

But, to each his own, right?

wowzers...
If you have that much built in energy to care for 4th gen 4runners, you can take all your cleaning frustrations out on my car! :D I'll take a couple of those washes from your car, just so you don't wear down the clear coat.

I agree, a 4Runner that is not taken offroad is not a happy 4Runner. Keep your 4Runner happy

i have to agree with you in some respect but I also know a 4Runner that is cleaner than the day I brought it home, close to two years ago, is a very happy 4Runner.

This keeps coming up that the guys that bought their 4x4 4Runners think it is a waste to not take it off road and get it all dirty. Well, I bought a 4x2 4Runner because I like the styling, I need to be able to carry people around as well as carry shipments. For instance, I had to pick up 8,600 EA SPORTS Demo cd's last week and make a delivery. If I had been in my Maxima it just wouldn't have worked. With the seats down, the entire back end was packed to the roof. I also use it to escort people when they are in town for media & public relations events, so I need to keep it looking nice.

Not to mention I paid for it and can do whatever I like with it, and that includes taking care of it.;):

Oh my... now that is just SILLY!! :bonk:

I'm sorry, but if you were my friend I would have to slap you several times. It would be irresponsible of me not to do so.

Just a joke fish. :D I understand what it's like to have something brand-new, but if I exhibited THAT kind of over-the-top behavior after purchasing a new truck, my buddies would be quite forthcoming as to point out what a weenie I was being... and I would thank them later just as soon as I came to my senses! :rolleye2:

Looks clean compared to my truck since I live on a gravel road!!! Man oh man I am going to need paint protection when I order mine.

To think I thought I was obsessive-compulsive (also known as anal); hell just look at some my first 20 posts. Man relax, it's a car, and I don't car what anybody says you will get to a point where the little things do not bother you. Now my car most of the time looks like the picture Sharp posted.
