How often do you put the back window down?

Has anyone found any surprises in the cargo area as a result of this?

I have found a few different cats in the cargo area over the years. I just open up the back and they jump out to continue on their destination.

My wife found a real little guy in there last summer... he is almost 2 now and we named his Ezra. He's a super cool cat and he LOVES riding around in the 4Runner. You should see the look on peoples faces when they see his little head pop out the back window when we're rolling down the highway! LOL!

-JD- Those are the roads it stays up, I can't stand having the dust come in. But when we stop for a while it goes right back down.

Maybe the people around here forgot about the almighty window or they can't see the button.

Down whenever I can, and same goes for the sunroof. Even when wheeling, I don't find that too much dust gets in...or exhaust for that matter. Maybe the spoiler actually does something!
Plus this guy loves sticking his head out and looking at people behind me...although I usually have it halfway up for him.

the back window rolls down?

jk haha

i roll mine down bout 25% of the time. When my dog
is in the back, she likes to make the people behind us
at the light smile. And when we go offroading we roll it
down for her so she can enjoy the wilderness.

All the time. Loading groceries. While driving to get a gentle breeze going. When I'm taking my trash to the dump.

Really wish my sunroof worked, though. Especially with spring coming.

All the freakin' time! One of the great things I love about the Runner.

The dogs love it when it's down too.

I don't have any pics from last summer... he kind of caught us off guard when he pulled the rear window stunt last year. I'll be sure to some pics when it warms up.

He also loves standing up and looking out the driver side, rear window when we go through any drive-through windows. I struck a some funny conversations with a few folks at those restaurants, but it is embarrassing sometimes when you see 3 or 4 teenage girls in there laughing because we're rolling around with a kitten in the truck!

i put it down as often as i can, although during the summer when my dog rides in it more often it endlessly circulates his fur into my face.

smc23 What kind of dog do you have?

Desertfox is setting up a meet & greet towards the end of this month in Monument. I don't know how to post the link here, the thread is in the general discussion section.

I roll mine down all the time, my dog loves it, my kids love it, and its one of my most favorite things about toyota! If I ever get the wife a sequioa or get a tundra, the back window must roll down too!!

Pretty much any time it's not cold or raining.
I like to roll mine down half way so I can make everyone else jealous too!
(I thought I was the only one though) haha
Almost always crack the sunroof too.
I don't really notice the smell much.. occasionally but not enough to keep me from using the window as much as I can. (4th gen with spoiler)

My ONLY complaint about the back window is that I wish my key fob would roll it up.

My goal is to use the back window so much that it is the first thing to break on my 4runner. The feature is amazing and I only wonder why no other company does the same thing.

My only complaint with the entire vehicle is with the power button for the tailgate window. Why is it in the console on 5th generation instead of a dash button on all other generations? Stupid placement. I'm always lying stuff down and pushing the button on accident.

I ran across this today and it made me think of this post. (Not sure why since you said your cat loves it..) hahaha
