Yep. Brand new. It was a buy it now too so I'm sure it's still probably the same price.
How should I choose an exhaust kit??

That I don't. I think the one for the 3rd Gen ends in 101.
You can get a good idea if you get under there and measure the size of the pipe and which way it exits and enters.

I guess they are more like $75. I know the one that I got is 2.25". I thought it was center in center out, but it maybe center in side out.

well im back to the muffler cause i am about to actually get one. and was wondering if the vortex was any good. from burtman industries. check it out. its also a good price.

Pull the trig on Exhaust
Are you going for that Cherry Bomb Vortex? I'm set to pull the trigger on Borla, Gibson, Magnaflow any minute. I just don't have enough experience with them. I put sound at the bottom of the list because my Fiancee loves to drive my 4runner. I don't want to jack up the noise on her.

I have the magnaflow kit on my V8 Sport Edition and i must say it is awesome. Its not real loud in my opinion when cruising down the highway. However when you stomp on it to pass someone it definitely lets them know that your 4runner has some balls under the hood. In my opinion i dont think i would go with the flowmaster. At high end rpm's the sound to me is not as smooth and fluid as the magnaflow. They tend to get that "popping/glasspack" sound. I have had 7 different exhaust systems on my 2001 F150 4x4 w/ 5.4L V8 and i have personally tried the 40 series (both single and dual chamber), super 40 series (not to bad), & 50 series. And they were just not what i was looking for. I say go with magnaflow on the 4runner I have it and it sounds awesome.
I have the cat back kit on mine. Sorry i dont have a link but there are quite a few videos on youtube if you just go on there and search for a 4runner w/ magnaflow you will definitely find some pretty good videos that will give you a great idea of what it will sound like on your 4runner. I think you'll like it I'm extremely picky when it comes to exhaust and I am very pleased with it.

Would love to tell you but the fact is I have a great girl that paid for it and wouldn't let me know and still to this day hasn't. I think on ebay the kit runs a little over $550. Which is pretty pricey but I love the sound. I'm sure you can pick up just the muffler pretty cheap. You can probably go to Magnaflow's website and get the part number for the muffler and order just the muffler. Than just have a local shop do the install and put whatever tip on it that you like. Personally it has the splittail pipe on mine and i wish it was only one tip instead of two because its hard to get between the two to polish them.

It has come down to me listening to crappy sound clips on the Morale Computers in Iraq trying to pick an exhaust kit. I only get 30 minute windows to hit up Youtube after work hours and try and decide by sound. I feel bad making any choices this way, I know the speakers aren't doing the clips any justice. Sound after all, is at the bottom of my list. I don't want to blast out my little asian (soon to be) wife. I think its Gibson vs Borla at this point based on a bunch of reasons. The one gibson sound clip I listened to sucked. The wind was beating up on the mic too much to hear the gibson exhaust.
Gibson is staying on the list for availability, price, and their claims. Borla is who I'm leaning on but I'm mostly worried that its too much. Magnaflow, I have heard good input on from other users. Thank you TTurner. However I can't access the site for some reason on my government computer.
After this is taken care of, I hope Doug Thorley comes through with the 4.7L v8 headers.
